Very proud of your service to our country. May you watch over your family from above with your uncle. I came to know you through your proud mom's pictures. Stephanie may the may memories try to help you and your family in this time of your sorrow.

I worked with Michael at PVCC, and it was evident to anyone who met him that he was a special young man. I always respected the way he worked with the students to bring about resolution and de-escalate a situation before it became a situation. One day I reported to Michael that an elderly gentleman in the parking lot flagged me and asked for security because he thought some kids were harassing him. When Michael arrived on scene, the elderly gentleman changed course and began fussing at Michael for coming outside and getting involved, and then old fella fussed at me for asking for Michael's help. I was a bit vexed, but Michael offered his big, animated smile and thanked the man for being patient with "our mistake"; the elderly gentleman and the group of students all went their separate ways and we were all a bit better off for having encountered Michael that day.

Today I had the opportunity to say See ya later! to this beautiful Soul! Michael David Russell. It was the first time that I saw him look so serious, I will never forget that Smiling little boy walking around in his boxers with his toy rifles!! May God have you in his Kingdom at his side! May you R.I.P. Mickey- Michael David Russell. We will miss you but, we shall see you again someday! Luv ya!

You will forever be in my heart! You are my hero and always will be, I love you so much. So many memories to reminisce on from our long lives together. The world lost another angel on July 4, 2017. I met Michael at work and we became fast friends. He had a warm and caring manner. Always the protector, Michael would ensure that I was fine while working late at night and always offered to escort me to my car. Michael lived his life with integrity so it's no surprise that Scottsdale Police wanted him on their force. I didn't see him much after he started working at another location, but he became a good friend to my daughter. It was a shock to lose Michael so suddenly and he will never be forgotten. May God comfort Michael's family during this difficult time.

You are a hero. A selfless man. I'm sorry I didn't know you on earth. Stand tall in heaven. Praying for all who love you.

I knew Mike from PVCC. We bounded over being from Connecticut. We would often have long conversations after my night classes about all kinds of things. I had a student once that I was a little frightened about. The student had gotten angry and thrown a desk in my direction. Mike looked into the student and attended the next class to make sure the situation did not escalate. One day in the spring, Mike asked to speak to one of my students. He had found a rattlesnake curled up on the engine of her motorcycle. He wanted to warn her to be careful when she got on the bike after class. He did not tell her it was a 10 foot long rattlesnake. He did not kill this one. He relocated the old guy to the far end of the property. Mike was our protector at the Black Mountain campus. I always looked forward to seeing Mike when I got to class. He told me he would not be there this fall. He was supposed to be gone for a better job. That was sad enough. To know he is not going to be with us at all anymore is just not right. He will be so missed by everyone who knew him. Tito's kids liked him. They met him at STEAMTASTIC, 2 years ago. This year, because he wasn't doing the potato launcher, they did not want to do it either. He had made it special and fun. RIP Mike. I fully believe we will meet again on the other side and have lots to catch up about. Heaven has gained a very special angel in Mike Russell.

Mickey was and always will be forever his Mom's Angel. They were so close and took such good care of each other. She adored and took great care of him since he was born. He always had the best of care as a baby, a boy, as a soldier, and as a man. He was always a warm and loving person. All his family members here in Connecticut were always so proud of him. I have known the Russel family my entire life. I was heart broken to hear that Michael had passed. We wanted to be there for the services but unfortunately we were unable to attend. My thoughts and prayers go out to Stephanie and family and we wish them well. this world has lost a great man, brother, nephew and solider, he will be greatly missed. RIP Michael David Russell. Mickey was my "little brother". I met him in CT and spent a short time with him before he moved to Arizona. He was truly passionate about serving his country and talked about it often when we were together. He was such a positive kid and never had a bad thing to say about anyone. He really loved his family and although I only spoke with him occasionally after his move, most recently a couple of months ago, I still felt close to him and often thought of him. Michael was my TA and student at Cortez High. He was a wonderful human being with a great sense of humor, and he brightened my day every single day. His smile was legendary, as were his stories! Russell and my husband Luke were best friends as they were in the army together but Russell was also my husband best man in our wedding.
