Coach, myself and my wife Nancy became great friends the last 4 years and shared many a meal or beverage at the Queen. I am really sorry that I did not meet him until 2020. I am sure we would´ve been great buddies throughout life in sports, service, wartime, life and gambling. He´d say you always have to win and I think I do. He´d say and I agree a little little win even a few cents is better than a loss. We never got to fish or hunt together but we shared many a story. I regret that I never took him fishing or treated him as a chiropractor. Just maybe we´d have this great person living amongst us still. Have the Almighty save a spot for us. Sorry you´ve passed physically but you are still with us spiritually! Love you brother. Dr. Gerard Boehmer, chiropractic physician

Russ became a father, mentor, and coach to me when I entered freshman year in 1997. I´d say he saved my life in some respects as he cloaked me with love when life was grim. He told me to respect women, pay attention in geometry class, and to avoid the dark side by all cost.

I am a teacher today and I often reference Russ´ stories and influence on my life. Thats nearly 30 years later! Mr. Russell´s legacy has extended well beyond life span, now touching the spirits of young people here in Chicago through me.

Legends never die!
