I was a student of his back at South Shore Middle School and assisted him with grading tests in geography class and also was one of Rey few students he trusted with using the machines In woodshop class. We spent may lunch breaks just talking and bouncing ideas and thoughts off of each other. He was easily in my top 3 teachers throughout my schooling and will sadly miss being able to see him any more.

Mr. Rust had to have been my ABSOLUTE favorite teacher I had ever had back when I was at South Shore Middle School. I was also his teacher's assistant in both of his classes that he taught. We spent many afternoons during lunch break and after school talking about many things, as well as allowing me to be the only one to operate the heavy machinery in his wood shop class. I will always remember him as a very caring person with an awesome sense of humor. The world has lost one of the truly great people. RIP my friend.

Alex,
Your loving words and the care you took during this time of Michael's illness is truly moving. What stands out most of all is the love that the two of you shared and the courage with which you both faced the challenges of the last year and a half. I am so sorry for your loss.

Alexandra,
I am so very sorry for your loss, I remember the day when you told me Michael was your sole mate and I found that so touching. I enjoyed speaking with the two of you and getting to know Michael a bit over the phone. His love for you was obvious even to a stranger over the phone. Take care of yourself and please let me know if I can assist in any way.
Sincerely,
Julie Myer

Alex,
There are no words that can really express the feeling of loss I have at Mike's passing, so I can't even imagine how it effects you. I'm not sure if he knew it, but he was probably the closest friend I have here in Seattle. He was a great sounding board, marksman, and cook and I will miss him for those three reasons and so many more. He needn't worry about being forgotten, he was larger than life, a person who's visits you anticipated with relish and his departures came all too soon. It was an honor to be his friend, an honor to be his brother, an honor to know him.
All of our love to you and the boys,
Doug,Jane,and Ari

My memories of my cousin Michael go back to childhood. Michael loved to have fun, and to make people laugh. His upbeat approach to life was infectious. He was blessed to have Alex as his wife and companion. Their love for each other was always evident.

I think I speak for all of us who knew Michael here at Boeing in Bellevue when I say that he will be missed and was loved by all who were touched by him. He always had nothing but kind words for you and was a ray of sunshine when the clouds were gray. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all his family and MANY friends that will truly miss this fine man! No doubt that God has opened his loving arms and taken Michael into his kingdom.

Dear Alexandra,
I am so sorry that Michael made his wonderful presence in your life and all of ours shorter than we wished. But he will be with us and the rainbow was a sign of that. He will be with you in spirit.
All of our love,
Amy, Chris and Cara
