My heart is broken over the news of this legend of AirPower. CMSgt Mike Shirley was the epitome of what a Chief Master Sergeant should be. When I was the Command Chief at Randolph, I would frequent the club and always seek Mike out for his wisdom. Listening to him was like sitting at the foot of the tree of wisdom. He always had an ethical approach to anything I threw at him. I´m thankful for him...thankful that our paths could cross in this life, as well as the life beyond. Thank YOU CMSgt Mike Shirley for all that you have done for me, our Airmen, our beloved Air Force and for mankind. You are gone...but not forgotten. I will be forever indebted to you. Rest In Peace and in the loving arms of God. Love you brother. CMSgt Steph Page

A great leader, and a true team player. Our paths crossed in the puzzle palace, however, I seldom dealt directly with Chief. Now, my young coordinator, Steve Tynes had a tremendous respect and admiration for Chief who was always willing to share and teach the best way to work a package. After working and coordinating cases, Steve wore out the phrase, "Chief Shirley said...". RIP Chief.
