Well Mike it has taken me awhile to write this. So sad you are gone. You were always by my side at Shell. Always worried about me. I always told you I would be fine. I am fine now after a bout with cancer and a brain tumor I am still in good shape. I remember when you told me you put a crucifix above your bed you didn’t know but I became a Catholic too. lol. Your family was everything to you. I’ve been reading what Michael has said you were everything to your children. You were a great guy. I guess you know by now Jerry Pellino has gone on too. I’m sure you and your buddies are all having fun in Heaven because I know that is where you are. Gods Speed and much love to you until we meet again!!!

When I didn’t get a Christmas card from your father this year, I worried and found this. I was so sad to hear the news. He was great friends with my father, Ted Hamilton, and my mom and I kept in touch with him after my dad’s death a few years ago. My dad and he enjoyed many talks and lunches together over the years. I’m comforted they are together again! Prayers for Mike and your family.

I remember Mike as a conscientious contributor to the success of any program he touched.
My recollection was that he was the “bulletproof” defender of Shell’s reputation, handling the many letters sent to the office of the president. When I came to Houston in 1988 to work under John Haines in Dealer and Jobber relations and to support JWS at National meetings and events I was fortunate to sit alongside Mike for a number of years. He always impressed me as a kind and dedicated gentleman in the best of ways for the company, for his coworkers and in his relations with our customers.
I wanted to learn from him, I could hear him speaking with customers all day. And he was compassionate, patient and reasonable in his discussions with people he never met nor would he ever talk with again.
What a wonderful man Mike Stone was and is as we acknowledge my assessment of a life well lived through the words of others and especially those of his beautiful family. God bless Mike and his friends and family.

I worked with Mike in the late 80’s. He was a genuine person who cared about people. He always put his children first when we were working together and I always respected his honesty and integrity.

Mike became a good friend through our Shell Oil association. Working and being with him was a real pleasure.

Your Dad and I were friends for over thirty-five years. The picture taken at Cheeca Lodge was one of many groups of Shell employees and customers, your Dad took to this famous Lodge, so many great experiences because your Dad did such a great job. The large group picture was taken at the Las Vegas Hilton in 1991. We were all part of a group that shepherded over 5000 dealers and jobbers and employees for a meeting and show that was an unbelievable experience. Your Dad and I had many wonderful lunches at Mo's Irish Pub and other places where we talked about our families and experiences. For sure your Dad loved his family with his whole heart. I cannot believe he is gone but believe he is in a better place. Praying for the entire Stone family during this sad time.

My Father was the greatest man i've ever known. One thing my brothers and I can agree on is that there was never a time in our lives that if we needed anything at all, our Dad would help us out any way that he could. While growing up in Maryland in the seventies, not only did our dad work full time to support us, he also personally took us to Indian Guides and Cub scouts, he always made time for us. His work in the PTA in Maryland aggresively lobbying for the construction of a new elementary school for us to attend was largely due to the fact that our current one was located on an old nuclear missle sight. He was approached by numerous people about running for local office but declined, largely due to the fact that providing for and supporting his family was his top priority. To this day I still maintain that our father could have eventually become a U.S. Congressman or Senator, but supporting his family was his top priority, just as going to school full time and working nights and weekends so that he could graduate from college to better provide for us. I will never have a best friend again like my dad, there will always be a void inside of me that can never be replaced. I love and miss you Dad, your son, Michael Robert Stone
