Michael Strigenz Obituary
Fond du Lac - Dr. Michael A. Strigenz, age 63, of Fond du Lac, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2020, at his residence. He was born on May 24, 1957, in Stuttgart, Germany, the son of Anthony and Elizabeth (Walker) Strigenz. On July 26, 1980, he married Mary Oswall in Madison.
Mike served as a Major in the US Air Force as an Ear, Nose and Throat physician prior to moving to Fond du Lac. Throughout Mike's career he was honored to serve the Fond du Lac community and his patients. He was as devoted to his patients as they were to him and will be remembered for his kindness, compassion, and willingness to go the extra mile.
Nothing gave Mike greater joy than being with his family and loved ones. He enjoyed coaching his children's sports teams, hunting, fishing and spending time on the lake. Mike was a loving husband, dedicated and attentive father, and fun-loving grandfather.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; three children, Sarah (Mark) Wendling, Daniel (Justin Walusayi) Strigenz, Michael (Joe Woodward) Strigenz; three grandchildren, Belle, Miles, and Emmie Wendling; his siblings, Deborah Strigenz, Mark (Christine) Strigenz, Andrew (Christina) Strigenz, Anthony (Diane) Strigenz, Elizabeth (Mark) Bensen, Thomas (Mandy) Strigenz, Timothy (Dierdre) Strigenz, Carrie (Greg) Miljevich; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, William (Fran) Oswall, Ann (Larry) Pinger, and Robert (Marjorie Tell) Oswall; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded by his parents; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Edward and Florence Oswall; brother-in-law, John Oswall.
Private family services will take place. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Cremation has taken place.
Memorials may be directed to Agnesian Hospice, 239 Trowbridge Dr, #9180, Fond du Lac, WI, 54937; or to St. Mary's Springs Academy, 255 County Road K, Fond du Lac, WI, 54937.

I was a resident in training with Mike at Medical College of Wisconsin. Even though he was in ENT and I was in general surgery , we overlapped on a couple of rotations and became friends. I could tell even then that he was an unusually special physician and family man. And what a great sense of humor. Though I spoke to him only twice since we graduated, I had a notion to look him up this morning and give him a call. So sorry to hear of his tragic passing. My sincere condolences to his family. I knew Mile through his brother as a classmate at Kewaskum. Later I taught his 2 older kids at Springs- awesome kids. I was even a patient- very good and we talked about Mark and his kids. My sympathies to his family.

I recall when Dr. Strigenz began his practice in FdL and at St. Agnes Hospital . A good day it was.

This is so sad. He was my doctor through some of the toughest times I was having, and he was always kind and compassionate about it all. Never did anything I didn't need and never just pushed through the appointment to get to the next patient. What an amazing man. My sympathies to his family and friends. Dr. Strigenz saved my Mother’s life one day when she choked and aspirated on a tiny piece of chicken that was in a can of soup! Years later, my little girl was struggling with chronic sinus and ear infections. Her speech was significantly delayed as well. Dr. Mike knew exactly what to do. After tonsil and adenoid removal and tubes in her ears she made a miraculous recovery! Within 6 months her speech was perfect. We truly were blessed to have Dr. Mike caring for our family. I am sending prayers up for his family and friends. May you find peace in his memory.

I worked for many years in the operating room with Dr Strigenz. I was also a patient of his. Dr Strigenz always had a smile that lit up a room,and with that came his compassion ,devotion and love not only for his job but his family,friends and patients as well. Dr Strigenz was truly a very special man.Take comfort in family and friends and know God welcomed him home with his open and loving arms. Heaven gained an angel. As Mike started his practice in Fond du Lac, I was added as an additional Audiologist for the practice at the very start of my career. We swiftly became friends, May birthday party sharers and more. As my husband is only a month younger than Mike, he welcomed him warmly into the fold. Mike also took such great care professionally of my family. My deepest condolences to Dr. Bensen and the family. Dr. Stringenz was the BEST! He was our doctor and did mine and my two sons surgeries. His humor was awesome and his knowledge was incredible. Couldn’t have been a nicer guy and his bedside manners eased my worries during a scary time for this mom. You will be missed!
