In memory of
Elizabeth Overland Megger
August 31, 2007
I had Mr. Titre in his last year at EGHS in 1984. He was by far my favorite and I have thought of him often since then. I always knew there was more to him then teaching but never knew his life was so amazing until this week. I am lucky to have known him.

We were pleased and very honored to have Mike as a neighbor for 10+ years. His vitality, interest in life and kindness to others remains both an inspiration and a goal. I am very pleased to have known this outstanding citizen of the United States and the world.

I knew Mike because we both belonged to Holy Rosary Council 4483. I too served in the Army Air Corps during World War II but certainly not to the extent that he did. We often reminised about our service days and he was joy to be with...always a gentleman. Mayhe rest in peace.

I visited Mike shortly before I left Arlington to go to Green Lake, WI for the summer. While there I visited the EAA Museum and
while there I visited a theater where different military personnel from World War II were giving talks. To my surprise Mike was on the screen giving a talk about military life.

I met Mike through EAA chapter activity and was always struck by his commanding presence, wit and enthusiasm. This was of course before learning about his heroic service as a pilot in WWII -- but this was no surprise. I too, received instruction at Oshkosh from Mike on how to do things, and my visits there will not be the same after his passing.

I met Mike while making my first pilgrimage to OSH as all pilots must eventually do. I was drawn into Kid Venture by Mike’s zeal and enthusiasm to teach kids about aviation, I have been back every year sense. The thing I looked forward to each evening back at Camp Scholar was sitting and listening to Mike’s stories piloting the P-47 and imagining him as a young man climbing onto the wing of that huge aircraft looking back giving the crew chief a thumbs up before flying into battle. I feel privileged to have known Mike he was a real American hero.

Dear Titre Family,
Please know we are praying for you in this difficult time. Find comfort in Psalm 55 where David writes, "Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you . . ." and John 11 where Jesus says, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever believes in me will never die." What solace we receive to know God is faithful in all things and that Uncle Mike is in His presence.
Our love to each of you,
Chris Smudde

Mr. Titre was my physics teacher at EGHS in 1982. I remember him calculating various aspects of one of the first space shuttle missions, such as the shuttle's speed relative to the earth's surface and fuel consumption, while allowing us to watch a launch during class. During a section about sound waves he explained how he lost his hearing working around jet engines, and demonstrated feedback by turning the volume on his hearing aid to max. Mr. Titre showed us it was more efficient to take stairs two at a time, and to ride a motorcycle, both of which he did every day. He was tremendously patient with our rowdy class, and always treated the students with respect. I respected for Mr. Titre as a person and as a teacher. I enjoyed his class, and will always remember to watch for "parallax error".
