MICHAEL FRANCIS
What a privilege it has been to be graced by God in raising a compassionate and caring young man for 15 years. He touched so many lives but God needed him in Heaven too soon. Michael Francis Trella, Moon Township, was born May 14, 2001, and left our world unexpectedly on Thursday, October 27, 2016. Michael was a sophomore at Moon Area High School where he was a proud member of the Tigers varsity lacrosse team. Above anything else, Michael loved life, and the many friends and family who were part of it. Michael looked forward to his annual family vacation to the Outerbanks, where he was an avid surf fisherman. He was a diehard Boston Red Sox fan, and idolized his favorite player, David Ortiz. His smile was contagious, his personality was endearing, his humor was infectious, and his love for his friends and family was enduring. Michael was preceded in death by his cousin and unwavering fishing partner, John Brooks Watkins who passed away 14 months ago. Beloved son of Mark and Sue Ellen (Scherfel) Trella; devoted brother of Matthew, Nicholas and Anthony who miss him tremendously; adored grandson of Martin and Maria (DiBacco) Trella, Monaca, and William F. and Susan (O'Keefe) Scherfel, Harmony Township; cherished nephew of Chris and Theresa (Trella) Hovanec, Hopewell Township, Jeffrey and Lisa (Scherfel) Catanzarite, Franklin Park, John and Amy (Scherfel) Watkins, Fallowfield Township, William F. Scherfel, Jr. and Lisa (Slagle) Scherfel, Marshall Township, Ben and Sarah (Scherfel) Keddie, Fredericksburg, VA; treasured cousin of Christopher, Zachary, Emilie, Jacob, Jack, Ava, Maya, Nora, Will, Benny, Whitman, and Samuel. He also leaves behind his faithful dog, Princess. Michael was truly blessed with many loving friends, classmates, teammates, neighbors, and parents. Their love, support and generosity have been remarkable to entire Trella family. Friends will be received on Tuesday, November 1, 2016, from 6-8 p.m. and also on Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. in the HUNTSMAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES OF MOON TWP., (1522 Coraopolis Hts. Rd.) Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Moon Twp. (Everyone please meet at church). Committal will follow in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, Moon Twp. "God grant that I may live to fish, Until my dying day. And when it comes to my last cast, I then most humbly pray. When in the Lord's safe landing net, I'm peacefully asleep. And in His mercy I am judged, As big enough to keep."

Wouldn't it be wonderful if any one in your huge circle of friends, family, acquaintances, loving strangers had the words to help us through this life without this wonderful child? I know of nothing or any mortal that can do that for your family. I do know God is ever present sharing peace and that he sends angels to hold you in their arms. Watch for them to ease the sadness.
