Michael Walsh Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 8, 2024.
'Walsh' Michael J Walsh

'Walsh', as known to all his friends, passed away Oct.1, 2024, at age 73.

Beloved son of Donald and Rosemary Walsh, he lived most of his life in the Pelham and New Rochelle area. He attended Pelham Memorial High School.

He is survived by his sister Maria 'Mia' (Kenneth) Thelen of Michigan, nieces Anne and Kathleen, dearest partner Denise, devoted Goddaughter Michelle and husband Steven, and many loving friends and neighbors.

Walsh's "lifetime partner," Denise, and he were two peas in a pod. The love, laughter, and support shined through when they were together. Denise encouraged him to smell the roses and take more time to enjoy life. She recalls countless memories of their travels to South Florida where they would go every year in the winter months and the first cruise Walsh ever took to the Bahamas. He went with her to plays, shows, movies, dinners, beach trips, picnics, the Latin circus, and the Soul circus every year where he loved the motorcycle acts because he used to ride them.

Many of Walsh's friends became family. Satch (a friend since they were 16) remembers Walsh's words as if they were yesterday, "You can't buy respect, you earn it." For every job or task, he gave 110%. He was a craftsman – it was about the perfect job. Walsh said, "Your reputation will always supply." "I have worked in business for 50 years; I never advertised and always had more work than I could do because of Walsh's philosophy. He was a mentor and a brother to me. With great respect and admiration for him, he will be deeply missed but always remembered." - Satch

Walsh mastered any craft he set his mind to, welding, carpentry, gardening, ironwork, mechanics, and food critic. He was well-read and could hold discussions on any topic with anyone. His interests ranged from politics and nature to gardening, and cooking.

He ran his own tree service for many years and owned Flintstones Welding where he spent decades perfecting his skills. Walsh was always willing to teach anyone willing to learn the right way how to take down a tree or weld a stringer bead.

His generosity and loving nature have shaped so many people throughout the years. His kindness and sense of humor left a lasting impression on all who knew him and will be dearly missed.

The family is being served by Lloyd Maxcy and Sons Beauchamp Chapel.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 11th at 10:30 AM at Blessed Sacrament Church located at 15 Shea Pl, New Rochelle, NY 10801.

He was a neighbor, very kind neighbor. Always with a beautiful spirit. We would talk and enlighten me with his words. Sad to know he is no longer here with us. May his soul rest in peace.
