Michael Wayne Welborn

In memory of Michael Wayne Welborn, who passed away on October 20, 2023 at the age of 49 from AML.

Michael was born in Winston Salem, North Carolina on December 22, 1973 to Raymond Michael Welborn and Margaret Virginia (Griffin)Welborn.

Michael enjoyed spending time in nature, and doing fun activities with his children and his grandchildren (who adored him). He was so proud to be a part of Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus, where he traveled with them in 1994-1995. He also enjoyed spending time with friends, loved music and concerts, and found his comfort in nature, as he camped and backpacked and hiked with his mother and father, starting at an early age. As an adult, he continued to enjoy outdoor activities, especially snowboarding, where he felt connected with the Earth. Michael was also very proud to have achieved Eagle Scout Rank with the Boy Scouts of America.

Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Virginia Welborn and his adored aunt Joyce Brooks. He is survived by his loving wife, Crystal (Valentine) Welborn of 26 years, father Raymond Michael Welborn, daughter Courtney Guthmiller (Cooper, Caleesi), daughter Kiersten Welborn and Corey (Caden, Maisie, Sawyer), daughter Adaira Strassner and Justin (Brenlynn), and only son Ashton Welborn, sister Clarine Brady and Damon (Ashley and Justin, John and Ashley, Dakota and Ashley), uncle David Welborn and many other cousins, grand nieces and nephews, as well as the rest of his wonderful extended family and friends.
