Michael Anthony Welch

Michael "Mike" Anthony Welch, age 70, of Panama City Beach, FL passed away on Friday March 31, 2023. He was born to James and Mary Lou (Minshew) Welch on July 18, 1952, in Albuquerque, NM. During the summer of 1959, his family was stationed at Tyndall Air Force Base, in Panama City, FL, where he remained for a greater portion of his life. Mike graduated from Bay High School, class of 1970. He was a man of many talents, mastering anything he put his hand to. Most notably, his talent to create beautiful artwork. There were no limits to his artistic endeavors. His artwork was a gift to us all. He achieved many accolades through his craft, varying from photography, sculpting, welding, painting and even building E-bikes. Words could never do justice when describing his creative abilities.

Mike had a keen sense of humor. He was incredibly intelligent, compassionate, and had the patience of a saint. He will be remembered for his kind heart, generosity, and his capability to make everyone feel at home. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Mike is survived by his loving wife Glenda Welch of Panama City Beach, FL; his children: Jodi Welch Coney (Phil) of Davie, FL, Madeleine Welch of Randolph, NJ, Matthew Welch of New Orleans, LA, and Stepson Mica Longwell of Anderson, SC; his brother James G. Welch III of Panama City, FL, and sister Judy Booth of Houston, TX; and four grandchildren Emma Coney, Nathan Coney, Grey Longwell and Rayla Longwell.

He was preceded in death by his sister Marilyn J Welch, and his parents James G. Welch and Mary Lou Welch.

Funeral services will be held 12:00 pm on Friday April 14, 2023, at Kent Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Following the service there will be a reception from 2:00-4:00 pm at Schooner's, 5121 Historic Thomas Dr, Panama City Beach, FL 32408.
