Michael Eugene Wieziolowski, 87, of Shelton, Conn., died Wednesday in Bishop Wicke Health Care Center. He was the devoted husband of 60 years to Katherine (Yazdzik) Wieziolowski.

Born in Dickson City on Sept. 29, 1929, son of the late Dr. Francis and Victoria (Jarmusik) Wieziolowski, he was a resident of Shelton for more than 50 years. Mike started his career at Raybestos, where he was employed for more than 28 years before accepting a position at the city of Shelton overseeing the transfer station for 22 years before his retirement. He was a veteran of the Army, serving during the Korean War as a tank operator. Mike attended the Pennsylvania Military School and Staunton Military Academy. He was a professional saxophone and clarinet player, liked to travel to the casino and was an avid UConn Huskies women's basketball fan.

He was the beloved father of Deborah Basso and her husband, Gregory; Elaine Corris and her husband, Richard; and Kathryn Sapiente and her husband, Joseph; proud grandfather of Joseph, Spencer and Ashley Sapiente; and loving brother of Antoinette Abbott. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his brother, Frank Wieziolowski.

Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. Margaret Mary Church, 50 Donovan Lane, Shelton. Burial will follow in Lawn Cemetery, Shelton.

I am glad you are up there with my mom and uncles. It saddens me to have you all gone. I will continue to live but will remember you with the fondest memories. Until we meet again.

Kash, Debbie, Greg, Elaine, Rich, Kathy, Joe, Joey, Spencer, And Ashley I know that you know how much we loved Gene He was a great Husband , Father, Grandfather and father in law and for us he was a great Brother in law. We loved him so much. Just know that he is at peace looking down at his wonderful family that he will continue to watch over from above and he will be playin that sax waiting to see us all again.

I am so sorry for your loss, I wish we would have made one last trip before my mom past in 2009. She was so fond of Uncle Gene. I will always have wonderful memories of him, and the way he could make the sax talk. So sorry to hear this news. Please contact me.
