Michael Angelo Wright departed this life at Veteran Administration Hospital on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at the age of 69. He was a native of Philadelphia, PA and a resident of Marrero, LA. Michael was a 1971 graduate of Overbrook High School, and continued his studies at Lincoln University, graduating with the class of 1975. He was a member of the Rho Phi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Sigma Gamma Gamma Chapter #849. Michael was a veteran of the United States Navy, and for his bravery he received commendations for Desert Storm and Cobra Gold. Michael was employed as a Grant Specialist with the National Institute of Health. Beloved husband of Kelia Coleman-Wright. Loving father of Michael Wright, Allen Wright, Macy Coleman-Wright, and the late Christina Wright. Son of the late Laura E. Wayman. Grandson of the late John C. and Essie Wright. Son-in-law of Marva C. Coleman. Michael is also survived by 6 grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Progressive Church and all neighboring churches; employees of National Institute of Health are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Progressive Church, 437 Cohen Street, Marrero, LA on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at 10:00a.m. Pastor Sterling Mealancon, officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the church.
