Michael J. Zimmer

Dean Zimmer, as I knew him 20 years ago, was a true gentleman, scholar, and great to the students at Seton Hall Law. Learned a lot from his employment class! He'll be missed.

I'm another who came to know Mike through the Fairchild clerks network, and then began to follow and admire his legal scholarship. My deepest condolences to Margaret and the family.

Rest in Peace Professor Zimmer. I will treasure the wonderful experience that i had in Con Law. You were truly an unforgettable and unique professor that many will miss! You were one of a kind.

Mary and I were deeply saddened at the terrible news of Mike's passing. He was one of the kindest and gentlest people I have ever met. Mike was a brilliant scholar and teacher, but had none of the ego that sometimes accompanies those gifts. He was a fellow Fairchild Law Clerk, and we sat next to Mike and Margaret just a few months ago at the dinner after the annual Fairchild Lecture at the University of Wisconsin Law School. Deepest condolences to Margaret, brother Ted, and the rest of Mike's family. We are sorry that we will be traveling out of the country on the day of Mike's funeral, but Margaret and his family are in our thoughts and prayers. Matt and Mary Flynn

RIP Professor Zimmer. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and for your role in giving me a memorable law school experience.

Professor Zimmer's congenial presence at Loyola School of Law will be greatly missed. It was a pleasure working with him. May fond memories of him remain with us and keep his family strong. He was a wonderful caring human being who will be thought of often.

I was privileged to meet and become friends with Mike in law school, where his intelligence, wit, kindness and infallible B.S. detector soon became apparent to me. In our senior year, Mike was at least 50% responsible for setting me up on a blind date with the person who became, and is, my spouse. Although Mike's career path took him to places which meant we would get together less often, when we did visit Mike and Margaret, we felt welcomed as old friends who had been together only yesterday,

Margaret, Michael, and Lanier, Joan's and my deepest sympathies go out to you. The loss of a person with Mike's qualities must be especially hard to bear; but as time passes, I trust each of you will look within yourself and discover the parts of Mike, especially his joie de vivre, that you undoubtedly carry inside you.

I was surprised and saddened to learn of Mike's death and my prayers are with him and his family in this time of loss.

I was privileged to have Mike as a friend through high school, college and law school as well in our more recent senior years in Evanston. He was an unusually kind and multi-faceted man who lived a full life. He left a legacy of a fine family and outstanding professional achievements. He, and his laugh, will be missed by all who knew him.
