Ms. Shyrrel. After more than thirty years you still brighten my day. I and Jean Davis offer our collective condolences.

You are still thought about often and missed a lot.

Linda, I was so sorry to hear of the loss of your father. I remember his joy and spirit around you when he visited school. I just lost my own dad, so I know how very welcome the happy memories are when shared by friends. My thoughts are with you and your family as you gather and comfort each other.

Dear family of Mike: our familes in Houston go back a long way; my father was Earl Amerman; I have a funny story about Mike; a while back I was standing at the top stairs of the River Oaks Country Club when a car drove up and several gentlemen got out who looked like body guards; then out stepped Mike; Mike climbes up the stairs (I think with a cane) I approached him but then the men approached me; I said very quickly to Mike that I was Earl Amerman's daughter; I thought Mike was going to put his cane down and pick me up off the ground; there was no finer person and no one bigger in life. A special hello to Linda his daughter.

I was privileged to get to interview Mr. Halbouty in his Houston office about a year and a half ago for a publication of the College of Geology and Geoscience at A&M. What an amazing life this man lead and continued to lead even at age 93! He never feared anything and knew he could conquer all. He lead his life by one word : integrity. He was and will always be an inspiration to so many. The world was blessed by knowing him. My deepest condolences.

Billie, I was very saddened to learn of the passing of Michel. He always was so friendly, wanting to greet and visit with me when I came by to service the drapery. He was such a dynamic person, with so much knowledge to share. He will be missed by many. Bless all of you.

To Rosalie Maye (aka, Miss Halbouty): I remember so well having you as my English teacher at French High School in Beaumont in 1965 or 1966. Although I never had a chance to meet your brother, I read one or two of his books and became well aware of the dynamic leadership he afforded to his fields of interest. May our Eternal Father in Heaven grant peace and comfort to you and all of the other family members during this time of sorrow.

Billie and Linda, Having a giant of industry as a husband or father does not diminish the pain of the loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you in these trying days.

I was saddened to learn of the passing of a great man and Texan.He was an inspiration for all who worked in the industry.He will be missed dearly.

I have always been a great admirer of Mr. Halbouty. He never stopped being the biggest "cheerleader" the oil and gas industry ever had. Though I never met him, I feel his loss as though he were part of my family.

An inspiring and compassionate pioneer, giant, and role model in the petroleum industry and community.

This is truly a great loss to the

petroleum industry. A great man of

vision with the ability to carry out

his dreams. He will surely be missed as a spokesman for the industry.

Michel T. Halbouty will always be remembered for his scientific experience and innovation thinking in the exploration and production of petroleum. Since 1983, we have many chances to learn Halbouty’s thoughts in AAPG meetings. In 1985, he attended the “Basin Analysis and Exploration conference which helded in Nanjing China, and he visited the Sichuan Basin in central China. We were very honored for the invited Mr. Halbouty as scientific advisor to our Scientific Research Institute of Petroleum Exploration & Development in Beijing. Mr. Halbouty was also elected as a Foreign member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 1996. As the chairman of the Circum Pacific Council for Energy and Mineral Resources, Mr. Halbouty encourages Chinese geoscientists to study the entire pacific basins and to endeavor global knowledgs.



I was always delighted saw Mr. Halbouty at AAPG meetings, and was deepest sorrow of loss him now. Chinese Petroleum geoscientists were the enthusiastic readers of his books and articles.

Dear Linda, It wasn't too long ago I lived in Houston and you were living in Dallas and we would meet up at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo. Now you're in Colorado and I'm in Virginia, who would have ever thought of that. How time flies. I was so sorry to hear of the loss of your Father. We have truly lost a great geologist/engineer, a dedicated scientist and champion for the AAPG. I am so glad to have gotten to know him these past few years. He was truly an inspiration to the geological community.

We have lost a true legend. Michel T. Halbouty served as an inspiration to Houston area geologists for over 70 years. The Houston Geological Society will miss his wisdom. We Aggie geologists will never forget his spirit and support.
