Michele Marks

I just saw a program about the loss of Flight 101. It is truly devastating in so, so, many ways. I did not know Michele or Mark, or their families. But, felt a deep compulsion to learn more which led me here. Knowing what I now know, I simply could not leave without leaving my condolences. Having lost my mother, I now also know that sense of deep, if not unmatched, loss that is shared be between a parent and child. It is all the more grievous when it is sudden... Obviously much time has passed and I can only hope, for you, that the pain has eased at least in some small way. Michele, your picture tells me all I need to know about what a wonderful person you are and what a loss for humanity...

Just saw your amazing story on TV. I lost my daughter to cancer in 2012 and I read your fathers notes on this site. Your father was and is so proud of you I could almost hear it in the words he spoke of you. You are a amazing women and did so much in your short life. I´m sure you would of been pilot in command of a 747 of A380 by now. Wishing you all the best in heaven and I want you to know you were and are a inspiration to all would be pilots and especially women pilots.

I still think of Michele often, she was a most amazing person and a good friend.

To whom it may concern. In 2005 my family were on a a cruise sailing around the Caribbean. One of the port of the calls was the Bahamas. As we neared port, a sea plane came along the port side of the ship, and as us photographers do, I rushed to take a picture of the plane touching down near a jet ski. I am located in the UK, and it was only recently that I realised that N2969 was traggically lost 2 months later. An offer strictly for the family. If it is at all of help, I'd be delighted to share (with my heart felt symphathy) the image, which shows a female pilot flying the aircraft at the right side of N2969 as it prepares for landing in the Bahamas.

I am so sorry for the loss of the crew and passengers and the family that have endured such pain.

I will check the message board on the system in a week or so (2nd May 2015).

yesterday was the anniversary of that fateful day. I'll never forget that report on CNN, and then those phone calls. we think of you all the time and you would be surprised how many of my friends know all about my niece the pilot.

I just watched the Air Crash Report on the National Geographic Channel with my 11 year old son. My son and I really felt deeply sorry for this young bright lady, who died so young and through no fault of her own.

I never knew Michele but she was a pilot on one of my flights to the Bahamas. I am a avid aviation fan, aviation is a huge part of my life as it was to her and it is always sad to see a pilot go. I know she was a great pilot, and it seems like she was a great person too as just about any pilot I have ever met is. Aviation world is a small community and it is always sad to see something like what happend on her flight happen. Its been years now but this accident for some reason just stays in my mind. Maybe because she was my pilot once or just that is was a chalks plane.

I just found out about Michelle. She was my instructor for my pilot license. It's hard to think she is no longer with us. She definitely enjoyed sharing her joy with others.

I have sat at the computer time and time again wanting to write about michele.The tears always seem to get in the way.The first time I realized Michele was somebody I would love for the rest of my life, was the first night my son Justin slept through the night. I awoke in a panic thinking the worst only to open his door and find Michele performing an animal parade at his crib. Justin only a few weeks old looking at michele with adoration. He knew she was something special.
Through the years michele was the best aunt any kid could ask for. Today Justin is almost 18 and reminds me of michele so much...
She would call him mole as a kid because he has alot of moles.Those moles came from michele it was her special touch and today those same moles remind me of her. Michele I wish you could see what a kind and gentle young man Justin is. I believe he got that from you. I think of you daily and look forward to seeing you again. give gram a big hug and kiss.

Today is a very special 40th birthday for our beloved Michele. O how you are missed . When I have days like today I have a wonderful place to go and visit Michele the Torre Pine beach. I find geat peace there

Today as we were having a liesurely cruise from St Thomas to Culubera

P.R. a piper Navaho Airplane crashed about a half mile in front of us.We were watching the plane as it was rather low and seemed to get lower and lower until we saw a big splash. We immediately called the USCG and told them what we saw, and talked to the FAA controllers at St Thomas airport who were aware that the plane ditched.

It took us about 20 minutes to reach the sight of the crash, and we

found all 7 people aboard in a liferaft and all OK. About the same time the Coast Guard arrived and took them all aboard.

Cathy also talked to the third boat on the scene and told her we were

so scared because Michele was killed the same way in Miami on Dec 19th.The girl on the Boat "Lady Francis" said yes , she knew how it felt,because she was there in South Beach on Dec 19th and saw Michele Crash.

I don't know what the mathmatical odds are, but I think it might be

considered quite unusual that a plane crashed so close to us so soon after Michele's death. Do you think it might be possible her spirit is still with us protecting those in the air ?? They all walked away without a scratch, and we saw the plane sink less than a minute after it crashed.

An Email I got from my Dad.

Your First Two Level Doll House at Christmas. Everyone remembers, you were " Agog " !! Just an Uncle reflecting.

I was devastated when I heard of the crash of the Chalks seaplane. I have experienced several adrenal rushes flying on that plane to Bimini to swim with the dolphins. Absolutely amazing! When I heard the horrible news, I actually prayed that it wasn't Michele as I remember her so vividly on my flights. A beautiful creature and so incredibly adept and talented commandeering that seaplane over the crystal blue waters. It must have been a real joy to do that day after day... and I am thankful she was able to experience that. From her friends and families comments, it appears that the ocean was her passion and I am grateful see got to gaze out at it every day. My deepest wishes go out to each of you and hope you find comfort in knowing just how many lives your beautiful daughter and friend touched.

My deepest thoughts & prayers go out to the extended family & friends of Michele. I have flown Chalk's to Bimini many times for dolphin encounters on the Bottomtime II, a live-aboard boat. Each & every time it was always an exciting yet slightly scary experience. Michele always made all aboard feel at ease with her smiling personality, professionalism, & demeanor. The planes are very closed quartered, hot, loud, & you feel packed in like sardines. Michele always interacted with the passengers, made us all feel safe & calmed our nerves. It was always such a thrill to watch her pilot the aircraft, and the landings & takeoffs in the water are once in a lifetime experiences. I can see why Michele had such a strong desire to fly the mallard, flying over the beautiful ocean, & then getting to actually land right into the sea. She will be greatly missed by all, but she got to live out her dreams, as life is about quality not quanity, and she seemed to live it to its fullest. Thanks, Michele from all of us who
