St. Louis lost a gem when we lost Mickey Carroll. My aunt had the pleasure of knowing him personally, and when she and he found out of my love for The Wizard of Oz, he sent me an autographed card. It will always be something I will love and cherish. Rest in peace, Mickey. May the magic of Oz always be with you.

May the God of comfort and tender mercies continue to comfort your family and friends, and may you find comfort in the words found in the Holy Scriptures: "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away."" Please accept my sincere condolences during this time of your loss.

For Mickey...
WEEP NOT FOR ME
Do not weep for me when I no longer dwell among the wonders of the earth; for my larger self is free, and my soul rejoices on the other side of pain...on the other side of darkness.
Do not weep for me, for I am a ray of sunshine that touches your skin, a tropical breeze upon your face, the hush of joy within your heart and the innocence of babes in mothers arms.
I am the hope in a darkened night. And, in your hour of need, I will be there to comfort you. I will share your tears, your joys, your fears, your disappointments and your triumphs.
Do not weep for me, for I am cradled
in the arms of God. I walk with the angels, and hear the music beyond the stars.
Do not weep for me, for I am within you;
I am peace, love, I am a soft wind that caresses the flowers. I am the calm that follows a raging storm. I am an autumns leaf that floats among the garden of God, and I am pure white snow that softly falls upon your hand.
Do not weep for me, for I shall never die, as long as you remember me...
with a smile and a sigh.

The Wizard of Oz was THE FAVORITE MOVIE at my house when I was a kid. We watched it every year. I don't know who enjoyed it the most, us eight kids or my Mom and Dad. Even after I was grown, (I'm 55 now)and married, we would take our son and go to my parents house the night it was on and watch it with them. I have us on video watching it and you can hear Dorthy singing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." God Bless the Munchkins, I hope they are reunited in Emerald City,in the land of Oz, Somewhere Over the Rainbow, with Dorthy, Scarecrow, The Tin Man, The Cowardly Lion, Toto and even the old wicked witch whom I was so scared of as a kid, God bless you all. Thanks for the wonderful memories.

I thoroughly enjoyed the childhood memories that this great movie and of this great man and fellow "munchkins" contributed. He (along with others) are now following the yellow brick road! I am now 58 yrs old and I still enjoy this great movie when I catch it on cable. We salute everyone that followed the Yellow Brick Road all the way to Emerald City and then back to Kansas! May the memories be as sweet to the future generations as it is to the past ones. Long live the Wizard of Oz!!

That movie was always special to me when I was growing up and it came on maybe once a year, then when my daughter was growing up and videos were available it became almost and obsession with her, I enjoyed watching it with her numerous times, and I finally got to see the Flying Monkeys and the Wicked Witch, without feeling the need to hide behind my Mother. I was proud my daughter was not scared by them like I had been. Thank you for being a part of my daughter's, and my childhood and hopefully maybe my grandaughter's too. It will be interesting to see if she is enthralled as we were.

Mickey was such a terrific guy and friend. We in Marshfield, Missouri were honored to call him our special friend and we were even more honored to have inducted him into the Missouri Walk of Fame in 2006. Long before the tribute in Hollywood, he was remembered and appreciated in his home state. There are several pictures of Mickey on the Marshfield Cherry Blossom website, there is a nice tribute there as well.
