I've thought about you, Mike, every day this past year. Facebook says you commented most of all my friends there, on my posts. I miss that, and I miss seeing you listen to me, and saying that my thoughts are important. Your thoughts are important to me, Mike. I will keep thinking about you every day. I will keep returning here each year to talk to you in writing. Thank you for your friendship, Mike. It is valuable beyond compare to me. I will share who you are, with the world, and I will pay forward what you did for me. Together we are changing the world.

We never met, but his work impacts me every day. Agile is, and has been, my way of surviving in this industry for the last 15 years or so. Will miss you, Mike. So many thoughts that will now never be stated. All my love to your family!

A very dear all life friend, always active, innovating and thinking ahead, caring father and incredible entrepreneur. He loved to watch Real Madrid and he would write in our group to chat and cheer RM. Such a great mind, physics, music, sports, agile management, IT, math, everything was a challenge for him.
We will miss you very much.
Rest in peace...see you later...

I do vividly remember my early days in Chicago with Mike when we worked together and were part of a close group of friends. I saw in Mike an individual passionate, driven and willing to push the envelope while eager to live life to the fullest. Whether interpreting Luis Miguel songs or discussing topics in Scrum applications, corporate leadership or theoretical physics, Mike tackled life head-on and dove into all its complexities with relish. Farewell my friend. Thank you for the good times and your profound insights. May you rest in peace as you live on in our collective memories. We meet again in the afterlife.

We were long-time friends, from school. I was in touch with Mike throughout the years, but we recently connected with regards to his courses and Agility. We were last together in December and I enjoyed being with him in a Meet-up and with his family during dinner later that night. I was planning to become a Certified Trainer this year.
I will miss him.

Mike,
I always felt awkward calling you by any first name, because you were a leader and mentor to me, kind of like a father role, which commands my utmost respect, and at the same time you demanded nothing from me or anyone, and you instead offered everything and anything to me and everyone all the time, and in fact gave so much to me and so many others, including an infectious sense of humor that I often think back on. I find myself laughing hysterically at your jokes, alone years later. There's a knot in my throat, and pain in my chest thinking that your not going to be able to verbally encourage me and put new challenges to me, and upset my usual ways of thinking anymore. Just me looking at the photos of your smiling face, and me remembering how you were usually smiling and laughing. All the while I'll keep trusting that someone as smart as you couldn't be wrong about someone as simple and determined as me, in our sincere cause to make the world a better place. Wherever you are, will you please keep helping me? I promise I'll never let you down or do stupid things on purpose. Thank you, in advance, for laughing.

Mike, I was truly blessed by the short time we had together. You inspired and energized me. I will miss you but never forget what I learned from you: 1) wisdom about agile, and 2) that you were simply a very good man.
I am praying fervently for peace in the hearts of your family.

If you met Mike you were almost immediately captivated by his charisma, energy and passion. His love for the profession and his mission for making the world a better place made me understand the importance of the Agile Movement and why "Being Agile" matters to everyone not just for those us on this field.

Descansa amigo. Manuel Álvarez. Ciudad de México.
