So sorry for your loss. Dr. Mike has built such a wonderful life and family. Always kind words spoken about this warm and caring man.

A sad day for a lot of people...my boys loved Dr. Mike...Blair and Paul Hebert...so sorry to see him go but he is with our Lord...

My heart breaks over Dr Mikes passing. He got my children through many many illnesses. There are no words to describe how wonderful he was.

My dear Tommye and family,
I was saddened to hear of Mike's death. I know you will miss him terribly. But as Catholics, we know that he's in a better place and that he's waiting for the day you will join him. Just don't make that too soon. I'm sorry it was impossible for me to attend his funeral.
You were blessed with a wonderful family and the two of you have done so much good that I know God welcomed him with open arms. Life goes on, however, and know that you and yours will be remembered in my prayers. Love,

Dr. Mike and his brother Gerald were the only two Doctors I ever knew until I was married. Even then they would still see me, but I had to come in the back door of their office because I was to big for the waiting room. Such caring Doctors.

Dr Mike was a very compassionate and caring person. I will remember his smile and words of encouragement to me when I left for Charity School of Nursing. My prayers and sincere condolences to the Dr Mike Halphen family.

Our community was so blessed by Dr. Mike! He touched untold lives and his passing is a great sadness to all of us. He will surely be remembered for his love and kindess.

A great man...a wonderful doctor and role model. Still remember the office and his gentle demeanor. When I went to see him for my medical school admission physical (at age 21) he laughed and said it was time to graduate to an internist. He will be missed by many.

From all of Mike and Tommye's friends in The Dalles, Oregon where we were blessed with their Vista service for a whole year! We are so saddened to hear of Dr. Mike's passing. Love to Tommye and the whole wonderful Halphen family.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Halphen family. I will always be grateful to Dr. Mike for his gentleness and his humor when I was his patient as a little girl. Years later, I learned I should also be grateful to him and Dr. Jay for their generosity. My mom told me that when she first came to New Iberia - a widow with 3 young children - the doctors Halphen treated our childhood illnesses and performed our routine checkups for free. Thanks Dr. Mike. I truly have been inspired by your example all my life.

I am so sorry to hear of Dr. Halphen's death. He was such a nice kind man.I will miss him at 10:00 mass.

Dr. Mike was our pediatrician for our three children. His gentle ways and soothing manner were part of what made him the "good doctor" that he always was. And the children were always happy to get their "sucker" for being good. Thank you, Dr. Mike and rest in peace.

Dr. Mike was such a wonderful, compassionate teacher to those of us who worked with him at the Baton Rouge DDS. He was quick and generous in sharing his medical knowledge with us, and he will be sorely missed. I so enjoyed hearing his stories of the trips to Haiti. Heaven has truly gained a special angel.

Mike Jr. and Family: May Dr. Mike rest now after giving so much of himself, for so long, and to so many. Dr. Mike & Gerald were our "baby doctors" to me and my 2 brothers until we became teens, always there to take care of us, even making house calls. May he Rest in Peace until we all meet again. Mike was very special to my family. My parents, Jean and Pete Poteet, loved visiting with him. I remember when he brought Tommye to meet us before they were married. I dont know if I would still be here if it wasn't for Dr. MIke. He played a crucial part in saving my life twice when i was really young, I have always thought of him as my guardian angel. My heart is heavy for all of those that loved and admired this caring and compassionate man. It is with love and gratitude that i wish you eternal peace. Condolences to your family as they grieve and reflect on your selfless acts of kindness and generosity.

I am incredibly sorry to hear about your loss. I loved Dr. Mike and continued to go to him as my pediatrician well into college! He was so compassionate and kind, and from all I learned in his obituary, these qualities went beyond his role as a pediatrician!

I was lucky enough to bump into him and Ms. Tommye at a restaurant in Lafayette a couple years ago and he recognized me immediately.

I also recall he asked me about our mother during this brief encounter. Her birthday was yesterday 11/30 and we are hoping she welcomed him with open arms and he joined in her bday celebration.

My prayers are with all of the Halphen family. I feel blessed to have been his patient and of course, friends with our Landry family. I know his funeral will be a wonderful celebration of his amazing life.

So glad to see on fb. Syl and I took our daughter , Heather Leonards to him when we lived in New Iberia in the late seventies. He was a wonderful man and dedicated doctor. So glad to have found such a capable physician after moving from New Orleans. He made us feel so welcome as we started our married life on Main St. in Captain Gallion's garage apartment.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family. I'm thankful for the loving care Dr. Mike gave to me and my daughter.

My parents, Harold G. "Boops" Bienvenu of Saint Martinville and Sylvia Segura Bienvenu of New Iberia have been lifelong friends of Dr. Mike and Mrs. Tommye. My father was Dr. Mike's classmate at Saint Peter's College (Class of 1951). They always spoke so highly of him.
I enjoyed visiting with Dr. Mike & Mrs. Tommye at several Bienvenu 'family & friends' gatherings throughout the years.. most recently at my mother's birthday celebration this past July. Our conversations were usually about their children and grandchildren and Dr. Mike's eyes would always light up when he spoke of each.
Although I did not know him well, his kindness, concern and soft, caring voice always touched me. I know my parents are deeply saddened over losing such a dear friend.
My thoughts and prayers will be with Mrs. Tommye and the Halphen family during this time of great loss. May their many beautiful memories of Dr. Mike comfort them now and in the years to come.

Dr. Mike was the best doctor.....he and his brother Jay had the best clinic anywhere. Dr. Mike and Jay saved my son.....I will always be in debt to them.

Mrs Tommye I am so sorry. He was such a caring man with the kids at our clinic. He use to tell everyone I was his oldest patient. I will miss him but he leaves so many good memories.

Dr. Mike cared for my children Carroll and Lesli Boutte from the day they were born to the day they graduated from high school. He always greeted us with that special smile. His patients were more than just patients to him and that's why we loved him so much. He will truly be missed.

My sincere condolences to the family of Dr. Mike. He was our saviour in our time of need. When son was 3 months old I went to him crying because my son was dying. He sent us to a specialist who indeed said he wa, but Dr. Mike did everything to keep him alive. My son is now 31 years old. Yes he has medical problems, but he is here. Thank you for sharing this selfless man of God. He will be missed

There will be an empty chair at the holiday table this year, but it will be filled with loving memories.

I was one of the many that Dr. Mike treated. I can remember once he made a house call and his payment was a bouquet of roses from my Pop's garden. I love Dr. Mike so much I was quite sad when I grew up and could no longer be his patient. Prayers and condolences to the family for their loss

I was so sad to learn that Dr Mike left this world. He was such a big part of my childhood and I have such fond memories of him as a doctor and friend of the family ~ except when he said I had to have a shot!! :). He was a wonderful pediatrician and father. I always felt safe knowing I would see him or Dr Jay when I got sick. I've always been told they helped save my life as an infant and he always told me I gave him his grey hair!!! :) I found some comfort in my own loss thinking that my mom is up there now to welcome him home and he was able to make her birthday party today in heaven! I am sure it was a joyful occasion upon his arrival. I am sending prayers to all of the Halphens and I know you all will have so much love and support from the community.
