I first met Mike, before he became 11, when he umpired for us at FSU. He became a great friend and teammate on the state champion 71 Valdosta Pepsi Red Sox and the 73 Commonwealth Doorknockers. But his insistence that a strike had to be "inside the black" made us adversaries for life because he was just wrong! But that was probably the only thing he was ever wrong about. He was a great man, a great family man, and a great mentor. We will miss you 11. Queenie

We were (see team reunion photo) 11's first team he coached at FSU as assistant to Woody Woodward - 1975. What a treat to get back together in 2019. So many great players, such great chemistry, and the two exceptional, inspiring coaches that took us to the World Series. It's fitting to see 11 standing next to the scoreboard with his name prominently displayed, marking the field named after him. 11, your kindness, positivity and drive will always be with us. We miss you terribly already. Rest in peace, Mike.

As a young man I attended the FSU Select Baseball Camp several times. Coach Martin would talk to you about baseball and make you feel like you were the only player at the camp. He loved baseball and the kids he got to coach. Those camps are some of my best memories! God bless the Martin Family!

Mike Martin was the finest Man and Coach I´ve ever met God blessed me to be born Nextdoor to his parents. I followed him through Junior College to the NY Mets and eventually back to Florida State. His encouragement and advice affected me in my teens to adulthood. I was truly blessed to have crossed paths with Mike in my life. God Bless Mike and his family!
