Mike Muterspaw 1941 – 2021 Gastonia - Mike Muterspaw- formerly of Xenia, OH went home to be with the Lord on May 5, 2021. Mike was born on September 8, 1941, in Xenia, Ohio to Roy and Becky Muterspaw. He was a well-known basketball player (guard) in high school in Xenia and went to Ohio Northern on a basketball scholarship. Mike was a math major and worked in the computer IT field for forty-five years. In 1984 Mike and his good friend, Jim Geer, started a company in B'ham called Executive Technologies. The company is still in business and still developing SearchExpress document management software. Mike's last job was at Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia, NC where he worked for nineteen years, first as Manager of Information Systems, and then working with HIPPA requirements. He was a very hard worker and earned Employee of the Month in 2003. He retired at age 69. Mike enjoyed reading, traveling (especially to the mountains), sitting outside in his backyard, and spending time with his family. He was a wonderful father, provider, and protector of our home. He loved Herman jokes and had a wonderful sense of humor. He was also a big fan of Roy Rogers and Buddy Holly. When he was physically able, Mike attended worship at Providence ARP Church in Gastonia, NC. A few months before his death, Mike made a firm statement of faith and trust in Jesus Christ as His Savior and Lord with his pastor. He was greatly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him, but we know that being in Heaven with Christ is far better. He is survived by his wife JoAnn (Miller) Muterspaw of fifty-eight years. They were married on June 15, 1962. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Michael Christian Muterspaw, of Gastonia, NC, and one daughter, Tammi (Todd) Rhoney of Charlotte, NC. He is also survived by four nieces: Kathy (Pribble) Gatzimos of Osceola, IN, Sherri McGreen of Alexandria, VA, Laura Zaher of Johns Creek, GA, Becky Brooks of Olmsted Township, OH, and one granddaughter, Mary Wynn Muterspaw of Birmingham, AL. Mike was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Patricia L. Felton, who died after a lengthy illness on February 25, 2018. There will be no visitation or memorial service. Mike and I worked together 35 years ago at Executive Technologies.

It was a privilege to work with him, and create something which has stood the test of time in a highly competitive field.

My prayers are with you, and my sincerest condolences.

I send my love and prayers to JoAnn, Tammi, Christian and the entire family.

I worked for Mike at Ernst & Young and Amitec, and we founded Executive Technologies together.

Mike was a leader and role model in his hard work, optimism and encouragement.

Mike's faith and family were central in his life.

Mike, thanks for being a good friend and mentor and happy trails to you ... until we meet again.
