Only today, I read of the passing, of Mike Pinder, Mellotron Maestro, of the 'Moody Blues. May I belatedly send , my deepest sympathy, to the Pinder family, and share my feeling of the great loss, of an under-rated musical genius, solely responsible, for the birth of 'Prog Rock' ! His innovative, unique, adaptation of the Mellotron, paved the way for the later Prog bands like Genesis and Yes, and although not being as 'Heavy', the' Moodies had that Pseudo Classical feel, with a 'Rock' edge, combining melody and vocal harmonies, all orchestrated by Mikes' swirling, ethereal playing ! They became the soundtrack, of my life, for which I send my sincere gratitude !! Apart from listening to the albums, my first experience of Mikes' playing, was at the 'Moodies' 1969 concert, at the, Cardiff Capitol theatre, in South Wales, my very first attendance, at a 'Live' band, show ! The world is poorer, for his passing, so Michael, take 'One step into the light', and god bless you, and your bereaved ! My love to you all ! Terry Gay

It's impossible to overstate the importance of Mike Pinder in the world of progressive rock/rock/pop music. It may have been luck that led him to work at Streetly Electronics, and become "the man who made the Mellotron famous", but it was also luck for the Mellotron, it's manufacturers, and all of us who have enjoyed it's sound ever since. But Mike was so much more than that, a great songwriter, arranger, singer, and major member of the best band there ever was. They remained great after he left, but not AS great. And his reasons for leaving were valid and justifiable, even if they were a loss to the world. To his family and friends, I know you will be proud of all that he was, to us, and to you. Sad times now, but reflect on the good times that he, and you, had together. It's all we can have, death is part of the deal when you are given life.

Impossible to overstate the importance of The Moody Blues' open-hearted truth philosophy to my entire life approach. Finding solace in school art classes and choir practice as the family disintegrated, the Moodies' music completed the map to a way of seeing life on Earth. Their pure, holistic vision of perfection as making the most wonder with whatever's before you has never failed me. Vale Mike Pinder, Deep Mellotron Master, and Sonorous Reciter of Graeme Edge's Late Lament - one of my favourite poems.

I first heard The Moody Blues with "Go Now" and enjoyed them through my college years right up to the present. I believe I have most, if not all of their albums in my LP and CD collections. Condolences to his family. Yes, Mike, "go now" and play your wonderful music once again with your bandmates for all of your fans in God's heaven where you will certainly find that elusive lost chord!

Thank you for the music that expanded my teenage young girl mind that there was more than East Texas. I listened to your music with a record player that i bought on time ( and payed off) and dreamed that there was more.
