Mildred "Millie" Hinspeter Laird, age 91, of Erie, passed away Monday, June 14, 2021 at the Regency at South Shore.

She was born on June 25, 1929, in Erie, the daughter of the late Harry and Viola Schumacher Hinspeter.

She was a graduate of Strong Vincent High School, Class of 1948, before beginning work at the phone company. She had worked as a Billing Clerk at JCPenney and later as a Reconciliation Clerk in the Corporate Finance Department of Erie Insurance Exchange and retired with 13 years of services. She was a member of Elmwood Avenue Presbyterian Church.

Millie and her loving husband Bob were married on September 30th, 1950, and had 70 wonderful and loving years together. After retirement, her and her husband Bob spent 20 winters in Bonita Springs, Florida. She was a life member of the Zukor Club Auxiliary, the Siebenburger Women's Auxiliary and also a past member of Eastern Star #21 of Erie. She enjoyed doing crafts, water aerobics, reading, making afghans for her family, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She attended numerous football and basketball games and was her grandchildren's number one fan. She especially loved and enjoyed babysitting her great-grandson Austin, who called her "GG."

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter Brenda S. Laird and three brothers, Norman Hinspeter, Edwin Hinspeter, and Robert Hinspeter.

She is survived by her husband Robert L. Laird, two sons, James R. Laird and his wife Margaret; of Erie and Dan Laird and partner Tim Truelove of Durham, N.C.; two daughters, Kathleen Hoffman and her husband Robert and Linda Zboyovski and her husband Jay, all of Erie. She was blessed with seven grandchildren, Jeffrey and Joe Laird (Julie), Brian (Brenda) and Eric Newlin (Ellie), Greg (Lauren), Sean (Bonny) and Megan Hoffman Kleck (Matt) and 11 great-grandchildren, Julie, Christopher, Justice, Austin, Angela, Leo, Lydia, Finn, Josh, Roman, Jaxon, three great-great-grandchildren, Penelope, Lily, Josh Jr., many nieces and nephews, and a sister, Dorothea Blakely of Erie.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Regency at South shore, and LECOM VNA Hospice for all of their kind care.

Friends may call at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Service Inc., 602 West 10th Street, Erie, on Thursday, June 17, 2021, from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Deepest sympathies to all of Millie’s family. She was a sweet lady. I had the pleasure of getting to know her by sitting with her & her daughter Linda at the Erie Insurance Retirees get together.
I also had the pleasure of knowing her husband Bob through the Times Old Newsies organization.
A terrific couple! You will be missed Millie. RIP❤
