Mildred D. Manning

May you find peace in the Lord during this time of great loss. In my first years of teaching at Hidenwood Elementary, Mildred served as principal. She was very supportive. I am so sorry that I did not get to see her in recent years but will treasure the memories I have of her. God Bless You!

Dena , my heart goes out to you and your brother. Your mom was part of the Booker T" Washington elementary family, and she was one of the many great educators that taught. May God be the Glory.

Dear Dena & Earl,

I was so shocked to hear of the passing of your mother and my aunt Mildred. I will always remember the way she greeted me with such excitment, by yelling my full name. I would always laugh. I loved the way she would smile and bat her eyes at the same time. And 2 weeks ago when I saw her last she was still smiling and batting her eyes at me. We have so many lovely memories of her, and she will live on in our hearts forever. Aunt Mildred, I love you and you will be truly missed.

Earl and family I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Mrs. Manning was a sweet person who always had a smile on her face and loved to talk. May God keep and comfort you in his care.

Mrs. Manning worked diligently in her community to create a better quality of life for her neighbors young & old. She will be missed by all of us here in the Neighborhood Office.

Mrs. Manning cared about others without reservations. One did not have to quest about her thoughts, because she made them clear to all. She has been a positive influence in the lives of so many people who had the priveledge of knowing her. Yet, she knew that one day the master of her soul would come to set her free.

I grew up in Newport News and attended Hidenwood Elementary School along with my two sisters in the mid-to late 1970s. I am so sorry to hear of Mrs. Manning's passing. I recall her as a great principal and a very kind lady with a big heart.

Dear Mildreds'Family: I am so sorry to hear about the death of our beloved classmate. We really respected her company and enjoyed her spirit. It was a joy to be with her after a period of 62 years for some of us. She was indeed, a dynamic person. Now she has gone to live with God.
