Mildred Elizabeth Walker

Mrs. Mildred Elizabeth Walker age 95 of Elizabethton, TN went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on Friday, January 4, 2008. She was born on January 26, 1912 in Rome Georgia to the late Thompson Lumpkin Smith, Jr. and Carrie Evalena Terry Walker. Mrs. Walker retired from W.T. Grant where she worked for many years in sales. She enjoyed reading, gardening and crocheting. Mrs. Walker was a "people person". She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Ira Taft Walker. Mrs. Walker is survived by sons and daughters-in-law: Albert and Ruth Walker of Elizabethton, TN, Bill and Joann Walker of Milledgeville, GA; daughters and sons-in-law: Ruby and Hiram Adamson of Grantville, GA, Carol and Ralph Parris of Covington, GA; brothers and sisters-in-law: Henry and Evellyn Smith of Snellville, GA, Thompson L. Jr. and Jeannette Smith of Douglasville, GA; 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Wheeler Funeral Home from 4:00-7:00 PM, Sunday, January 6, 2008. The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Monday, January 7, 2008 at Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Reese Sanders and Dean Walker officiating. Interment will be at Ramah Baptist Cemetery in Palmetto, GA. Wheeler Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements. (770) 786-7111
