MIles Shipman "Shippy" Brooks

Miles Shipman 'Shippy' Brooks, 79, passed away with his wife by his side on Friday, June 29, 2012, at Sentara Williamsburg Hospital after a massive stroke.
Shippy was a native and lifelong resident of Williamsburg. A member of the class of 1951 at Matthew Whaley School in Williamsburg, he graduated from Fishburne Military Academy. He was a 1958 graduate of Hampden Sydney College and a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He was a veteran of the Korean War.
Shippy is survived by his wife, Carol Ann Berman Brooks; two sisters-in-law, Susan Berman Norris of Wetumpka, Ala., and Susie Brooks of Williamsburg.
He is also survived by his son, Miles S. Brooks Jr., and his wife, Kathleen, of South Carolina; a daughter, Kathryn Brooks Harlan of Florida; and their mother, Susan Tinsley Demeritt of South Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his brother, G.T Brooks Jr., and his parents, Gardiner and Charlotte Brooks, all of Williamsburg.
Due to his love for humanity, Miles chose to be a bone and tissue donor.
Per Shippy's wishes, there will be no formal services. A celebration of his life will be scheduled at a later date for classmates and friends.
