Dear Sarah and Family--
I have thought about my long-time close friend, Mil, with more regularity than you might imagine, and I regret not having seen him in person for a number of years. -- He and I spent many (countless)hours together, both in a professional capacity, and, more meaningfully, to me, on a personal level(I have been in his former home off of Bear Creek Road in the Santa Cruz Mountains, and he spent the night, several times, in my home). -- Though some thirty years my senior, I took an immediate liking to Mil, with whom I enjoyed many meals, who generously and humorously told me entertaining stories about his past, and who reminded me of my own Father(recently departed at age 92)--who, like Mil, possessed deep knowledge about a diverse number of subjects, and, similarly, was a "walking history book."
Upon learning today of Mil's passing, I pulled out my autographed copy of his "recipe" book, "For Gluttons and Winebibbers," and, in reviewing the book (which over the years I have "consulted" many times), I had a meaningful "spiritual moment" with Mil.
I am quite disappointed that I will not be able to attend the memorial service of my old friend next weekend, as I am committed to attend a Board of Directors meeting in Bakersfield.---Nonetheless, I will "attend" the memorial service "in spirit," and will continue to feel enriched by my close personal friendship with Mil.
With warmest regards to all in the family.

Mil
Your sharp wit and knowledge will be sorely missed. I have enjoyed serving with you on the RPEA Chapter 031 Board these past years.
