TRERISE, Millie (Amelia)
September 20, 1927 - November 25, 2012
"Farewell my dear children,
My life has passed
I dearly loved you to the last
Weep not for me, Nor sorrow take,
But love each other, for my sake"
At sunset on November 25th , 2012 our mother Millie gently passed away with daughters Barbara, Gerry and Kathy by her side. Mom was predeceased by her beloved husband Hugh and precious son Barry. She was loved by her daughter-in-law Suzanne and devoted sons-in- law, Ken and Trevor. Mom will be forever remembered by her six grandchildren, Ed, Jane (Tom), Andy (Bianca), Lindsay, Jessica (Dave) and Tony (Rebecca) as well as four great grandchildren, Caelob, Liam, Tucker and Casey. She is survived by her brother Johnny Welters as well as many other relatives. Mom and dad leave us with lasting memories of a happy childhood and family life full of unconditional love, much laughter, challenging conversation, community participation and volunteerism and many motherinspired feasts. We witnessed mom's personal strength and resilience as she coped with life's blows and her own declining health The family wishes to thank Dr. Wendy Lam for the many years she cared for mom and there are no words that can adequately convey our gratitude to the staff at Deltaview Life Enrichment Centre (Baycrest) who created a loving home for mom when she no longer could live on her own. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada http://www.llscanada.org to help find a cure or to the charity of your choice. A gathering for family and friends to remember and celebrate the life of this wonderful lady will be held in the spring.

Dearest Barb, Gerry and Kathy,
I just heard your message that you must have left on my phone about Aunt Millie. I have been away since Nov. 24th. I am saddened by your great loss. All those "aunties" fought tough battles in the end, but will always be treasured for not only the joy and love they brought to each other, but to their children and grandchildren. They gave us strengths as youngsters and even as women, when we thought the road was unbearable. Even though they were struggling along with us, the "sisters" found their way to come together as a family. They also added beauty to our lives, watching as we moved forward in our careers and starting our families, that we will always treasure. They all saw the best in us and gave the best of themselves. I always admired the special friendships that Peggy, Millie and Mom always treasured. I know that that carried on in all their own daughters. They taught us the importance of siblings. And mom always knew what all her dear nieces were up to. I just wish us nieces had been able to carry on those ideals. But has modern lives have progressed, we all get caught up in our own lives. We lived vicariously through our mom's keeping up on their dear daughters, their pride and joy. Your mom, your dad and Barry were so blessed to have you, Barb, Gerry, and Kathy help them through their last journeys. But you left them all with the strength to carry on with peace and eternal love. Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers. I look forward to hearing about a future get together, in honour of your mom, or just to get us cousins together to "cheer our dear moms and their "sisters daughters" and what they left to us. We should finally do this for them. In their honour. Your mom was an amazing woman, I will always remember with great love. With love and blessings, Jan

Barb, Gerry and Kathy, my heart goes out to you. You know how much we adored your Mom, and how we viewed her as our Mom when we lost our own. She definitely "walked the walk" when it came to living a life of purpose and joy. She was truly remarkable and I was honoured to call her my Aunt. She will be forever in our hearts; she was such a treat. The effort she made to support me and my family through our own trials was nothing short of miraculous - she made it all so much easier just by being here. Lucky us for having been graced by her presence for so many wonderful years!

So sorry to hear of your Mom's passing as well as my good old friend, Barry's passing 2 years ago. I have such fond memories of spending time with your family as I lived there to complete grade 12 at MRSS. My thoughts and prayers are with you as you deal with the loss of a wonderful mother.
