Milton Leroy Wallace

We will always remember Milt for his leadership, athleticism, fun-loving exhuberance and compassion for others. Our lives were enriched during college days by sharing those years with him, especially enjoying the opportunity to play basketball with him and cheer for him.

While we had little contact in person after college, whenever we enjoyed time with other alumni from our college days, it was often that Milt's name was mentioned, always with affection, in our visits. We will miss hearing about his many fine qualities and accomplishments, just as we respected him for his many faceted life.

It's been many years since Milt and I had any time together. We met in college (same class), played baseball together - he at short stop and I at center field - and were roommates in the dorm our sophomore year. We had a hillarious time together with our unit mates H.B. London, Vic Herlacher, Hal Reed, Dave Porter, Jimmy (Dr. James) Dobson and Gene Allen. In fact, we had such a good time as unit mates that the powers that be declared the eight of us would not be permitted to be in the same unit together in succeeding years. We were "fun" makers, but they thought we were "trouble makers." We didn't really damage anything, unless you count some folks sleeping habits.
I was sorry that we lost touch after a few years. My wife and I were out of the country for 11 years and Milt had disappeared from college alumni records. Just over a month ago Lee Beaty told me he had contact with Milt. Right after that, Jerri and I took a two week trip to Idaho and I planned to get in touch with Milt upon our return. But, alas, when we returned, we discovered he was in a coma and not responsive to visitors. I am so deeply disappointed not to have been able to get together with him and enjoy catching up with the last half of our lives. That will have to wait. We plan to be at his memorial service. Hope to see some of you there.

I didn't know Milt but know his mother, Millie through Christian Women's Club. Our sympathies to you all as I'm sure with Millie's guidance ,he was a wonderful man.

Milt worked for me in the late 80's @ Home Shelter Mortgage - Where I met my wife Cynthia (Plies)(small world) - I remeber him as: Sincere, Funny, Hard working, and a true class act. I will always remember him coming out of his office with his glasses, twirling in his hand or in his mouth (not twirling) pondering an answer to a question and when someone caught him in this state of ponder he'd just smile,laugh and turn back into his office - just like clock work and as funny as you can visualize. Even though I knew you for a brief time more than 24+ years ago, you made such a large impression as to what a true Father is.

When ever I would mentally
envision an image of a loving, thoughtfull, and caring Man, Son, Brother, Father, and friend, I would visualize him.

He will be greatly missed by family, friends, and those who where fortunate to have crossed his path. Know matter how brief the encounter.

We enjoy many fond memories of Milt, and his and our families' times spent together many years ago.

Milt, as a friend of over 60 years. We met in Sunday School and our teacher was Harold Jenkins, he took us boys camping, fishing, hiking and taught us good core values. You and I grew up through grade school, high school, college and served in the U.S. Army together. You were a great friend to me, like a brother. I am grateful you are no longer in pain and you are with our Lord in heaven.

You will be missed!

Dad, you were an amazing father and friend. My childhood was so much fun and full of great activities, fishing , camping, ski trips to the cabin, tennis, golfing, being patient while I learn a new instrument, home movie nights, cooking lessons on sat mornings, giving me the responsibility of owning and taking care of a beautiful horse. I could go on and on. You were such a great example of a loving, caring father. You are and will always be my hero. Thank you for all the great memories. You were there to walk me down the isle, and to hold your beautiful granddaughter for the first time as she came into this world. I only hope that I can be as good as an example to her as you were to me. I love you !
