MINNA ROWNEY

ROWNEY, Minna Margaret (nee White)
October 1923 - December 12, 2012
A strong proud and loving lady has gone to be with her Heavenly Father and beloved husband, Elias. Minna passed away on December 12th at Nanaimo Regional Hospital. She was born in Llandbradach, Wales, the youngest of five children. Minna, or Peg as known by all of her remaining relatives in Wales, was the last of the White family to pass away at the age of 89 years. Minna and Elias moved to Nanaimo from Saskatoon in 1991 to work with the Lighthouse Ship Ministries. Minna is survived by her 5 children, Yvonne (Manny) of Ontario, Phil, Allan (Ruth) of Saskatoon, David of Vancouver, and Ruth of Nanaimo. She will be missed by her seven grandchildren, Kim, Carmelita, Conchita, Dion (Kara), Derek, Josh and Justin; great- granddaughter, Abi; as well as all of her siblings' children. She is predeceased by her husband, Elias, grandson Tyler and daughter- in-law Carole. Mom, Peg, Minna was everybody's Mom and always said how much better one could feel by helping someone less fortunate than yourself. Minna's unconditional love for her family and friends, along with the happiness she brought into all of our lives will be her legacy. A celebration of Minna's life will be held at Nanaimo Alliance Church on January 18th at 1:30 PM. In lieu of flowers please donate to a charity of your choice.
