Mitchell Abramski Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Apr. 18 to Apr. 19, 2023.
Mitchell Allen Abramski, 65, passed away peacefully after a long and valiantly fought battle with cancer in the early morning hours of April 12, 2023. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Jill (nee Clark), and loving daughter Allyson (Mike), and three precious grandchildren Theo, Harrison, and Penelope - who held the very biggest pieces of his heart. Mitchell loved movie nights with his grandkids, caring for animals, classic cars, golf, the Price is Right, and the Chicago Bears. He was an accomplished electrician, a beloved brother to Linda, Larry, Michael, and Mark, a doting uncle to Laurie and Mikey, and a loyal friend to all he came across. He could fix anything and would help anyone he could, without hesitation. Though, nothing made him happier or more proud than being a "Gramps." Mitchell's roots were in Northbrook. From there, he spent time living in California and returned to the North Shore to be close to his daughter, who he helped with his incredible skills to make her house into a home. No matter what - or who - could use some fixing up, he always did his very best to make things better. Although his life was cut short, there was not a moment he didn't live to the fullest while he was here. He will be missed deeply for his kind and thoughtful heart and loving spirit. In Heaven, he joins his parents, Emiley (nee Burnett) and Richard Abramski. He will be laid to rest with special thanks to his sister, Linda Gervais, for her loving support.

The first word that comes to mind with Mitchell is KINDNESS!  He had the gift of welcoming and hospitality. Never entered or exited without giving everyone a kiss and hug. He always was offering a snack, a drink and ALWAYS " his help.  Literally, just mention something and the next thing you know, Mitchell was working out a time to "take a look." It could be rewiring, fixing brakes, sharing a contact, just always helping.

Mitchell could be quiet but when he shared a story it was always funny and interesting. One of my favorite memories of Mitch was the year he dressed up like a gorilla for Halloween. He was all-in. He also volunteered--he was behind the scenes, never wanted credit...just wanting to help.

But it always comes back to his kindness. Mitch's kindness to children and animals was beyond anything I've ever seen...both were drawn to his gentle kindness. In a room full of people Mitchell could be seen quietly petting a dog, a cat in his lap or speaking with the kids.

Mitchell loved his family like no other. As a parent, there was nothing he wouldn't do for Allyson (& Mike). He was a such a great "Gramps," loving those three like it was a race he was winning! As a husband...Jill, he loved you so much! Mitchell was an amazing son-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle and friend. This quote from the Wizard of Oz reminds me of Mitchell, "And remember, my sentimental friend, that a heart is not judged by how much you love, but by how much you are loved by others." Mitchell we love and miss you.

I knew Mitchell back in the '60s and early seventies. He was my late brother's (Robert Stemach's) dearest friends, and Mitchell was his Best Man at Rob's wedding.

Whenever my brother and Mitchell got together, anything crazy could happen! They both had such a wonderful time together, and both had big hearts and were always willing to help anyone which needed help. He always made me laugh and challenged me with his exploits.

We will miss Mitchell, however I'm so happy I had a chance to get to know him many years ago. May God bless Mitchell and his wonderful family.

Sorry to hear about the passing of Mitchell. I have not seen him in several years, but what I do remember about Mitchell was his mild nature and kind heart. Think I recall when he befriended a blue jay, seeing it on his shoulder reminded me that he was as kind to animals as he was to those who knew him. What a fine man.

Mitchell as all who knew him had a heart of gold.

He was also a gifted athlete, which is another way I remember him.

He could pull and hold wheelies on a sting ray (bike) till you told him is was ok to stop.

I recall hearing a story about him going up in the gymnastics shelf, as they called it back at GBN, and doing giants (full circles) on the high bar, without any formal training.

And then there was the time he crashed a go-kart that Kawell, Kent, and I went in on back in the 70s for something like $20 each. He walked away from that wreck that probably would´ve crippled most others. On fire no less!

And like I said, a heart of gold, to boot... He'll be missed by us "Countrysiders" that had the pleasure to grow up with and know him.
