Mitchell Ely Obituary
A talented Makeup Artist and Hair Stylist, Mitch dedicated his career to transforming the faces of many prominent individuals in the world of film and television. However, his true legacy lies beyond his professional accomplishments.
Mitch was a man driven by a genuine desire to bring goodness into people's lives. His compassion knew no bounds, and he exemplified non-judgment and love to everyone he encountered, regardless of their background or occupation. He firmly believed that his purpose on this earth was to help others, a sentiment he expressed in the days leading up to his passing .
As a proud member of Local 798 and the LGBTQ+ community, Mitch embraced his identity and became a beacon of light for countless individuals. His impact on the lives of those who knew him best will endure, his memory forever cherished.
Mitch is survived by his loving sister, Gayle Ely and an army of friends, who have loved and supported him throughout his life. A memorial will be planned at a later date.

I have so many funny and loving memories of Mitch. We worked alongside each other for years. I loved working with him. He was a generous soul and great educator.
He knew everything about Estee Lauder and the millions of other products out there. His passion was true and his talent was greater. His laugh was like no other and infectious. I will truly miss him. You're at peace now.

My sister, Peg Weedon, and Mitch were very close in college and early career days. Even though they had drifted apart, Mitch was supportive of her and me at the end of her life. I'm so sadden by his passing. I remember him as creative, talented, supportive, fun. RIP

Mitch was a Beautiful person who I met over 25 years ago.We didn´t see each other much over the years but always a Kind word and smiling face.I ran into Mitch in April.I hadn´t seen him in 10 years.we hugged;im so glad we did.You never know when it´s gonna be the last time.Rest in Power Mitch.You touched so many people´s lives with Joy.

I worked with Mitch at CNN and I was very ill with brain tumors. He helped me so much one day when I was having a seizure. I will never forget him for his kindness.we were fast friends since that day !!! He will be sorely missed. My deepest condolences and love to all . Mitch was a tremendous, talented man and was loved by all.

I worked with Mitch in many different sets and different projects through out 10 years and we always had many deep conversations. I loved coming to work and swing his beautiful smile and receiving his big hugs because I´m a hugger. He always tried his new makeup for darker skin on me lol to see how it looked. He was an amazing human full of love he never had anything negative to say. I will miss him. My deepest condolences to his family.

There´s many an individual that lights up your face because you know this person.
Mitch, was one of these individuals that you knew would welcome you, help you, and want nothing, but the best for you.
It´s going to be very strange not to see you sitting in the NBC cafeteria eating lunch before work.

Mitchell was one of the sweetest people I´ve met in the television and film world. I met him at NBC and he was always a ray of light, always very positive. He could really brighten anybody´s day. We started in the Union together at night time NBC. Mitch had just resigned from a supervisory job at L´Oréal and I had just sold my Salon and we both shared our feelings - did we do the right thing, giving up great positions to join the Union. You have left us with so many memories. I don´t think I will ever know anyone with a cooler name.. Mitch Thor Ely. Pretty sure that you were supposed to be a superhero with a name like that..You were to a lot of people. I bet you didn´t even know that.
We talk about you all the time we laugh at some of the silly things that you used to say, and continue to keep your memory alive here. If I know one thing for sure, heaven is in for the ride of its life. Make `em sparkly and glossy up there Mitch!!!
