February 1, 1911 - March 31, 2012
Miyoko Kadonaga, born February 1, 1911 passed away peacefully at the Bow View Manor on March 31, 2012 at the age of 101 years. She was born in Agarimichi, Tottori- ken, Japan and immigrated to Canada to live with her new husband in 1936. They first settled in Mission, BC. In 1941 they moved to Southern Alberta. She raised her family working on sugar beet and vegetable farms until the winter of 1959 when they moved to Calgary. She celebrated her 100th birthday in style at her home in the Manor Village of Huntington Hills with many friends and family around her. In October 2011 she moved to the Bow View Manor and spent her final days being cared for by the wonderful staff. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff for their care and compassion. Miyoko was predeceased by her husband Toyoichi in 1980 and all five of her siblings in Japan. She will be dearly missed by her children, Hisashi (Holly-Jean), Ray (Edwayna), Ruth (Dennis), Ken (Haruko), John (Shaellyn) and her grandchildren, Dianne (Ernest), Darryl (Pepsi), Richard (Jenny), Karyn (Michael), Keith, David (Danita), Susanne (Josh), Shasta (Justin), Krystalle, Chanone (Russ), Hiather and her 11 great-grandchildren. A Funeral Service will be held at FOSTER'S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 - 4 Street N.W. on Thursday, April 5, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. As per Miyoko's wishes, please no Koden for the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Miyoko's memory may be made directly to the Brenda Strafford Foundation, 4628 Montgomery Boulevard N.W., Calgary, AB, T3B 0K7 (Telephone 403-288-4446. www.straffordfoundation.org ).
