We are all gathered here to celebrate and remember my Dad Monico Poderoso Jr. His life and achievements as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, son in law and as a friend.
We made this as an open forum, where we can talk about my dad, pray for him or just get to know everyone that touched his life.
Let me start by saying this:
My Dad Monico Poderoso Jr came into this world on July 11th 1944. It was world war II and the Japanese occupied the Philippines. A few months later on November 14th 1944 his dad Monico Poderoso pass away from an airplane bomb that wounded his legs.
He never got to know his Dad, like I did with him and I am bless to have known my dad.
My Dad traveled a lot and I mean a lot, everywhere, every year. On 1965 he became a Merchant Marine or Seaman He travelled almost the entire world. He went to Saigon Vietnam and boy, he's got some interesting stories on this place, Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia, India, Korea, Taiwan, Japan This is one of his favorite place, U.S., New Guinea, Australia, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Kenya, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Tunisia didn't even know this place existed, American Samoa, Fiji Island, Norway, Sweden, Finland, France, Algeria, Rotterdam I guess this is one of the city in the Netherlands, Germany, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Peru, Panama, Ecuador, Spain, London, San Francisco, Canada, Russia, Africa, Hawaii, Europe, Cuba and Brazil his final stop on 1985, before settling here in America, which he already visited as well.
I wish I can also travel like him to all this places and see the world thru his eyes, but I guess it's not going to happen in my lifetime, unless I win that powerball.
My dad is very funny, easy going, a charmer specially with the ladies. He likes to speak Spanish or we call it broken Spanish Chabacano. Remember we are from Cavite City so we are Caviteno, plus he is very religious. I say that, because we have pictures of our patron saint of Cavite, Nuestra Señora dela Soledad de Porta Vaga hanging in every room with rosaries, pamphlets of prayer books of course a Santo Nino and a crucifix.
My Dad's birthday is a lucky number 7-11, he doesn't win in the casino, nor the lottery but he always gets a free 711 slurpee on his birthday.
My dad is a great Dad, he loves my mom, myself, my siblings and specially his grandchildrens, which whom he bonded in there special ways. I will missed him truly. He shape me to the man I am right now, truly blessed, surrounded by Family and Family is the strongest bond and no matter whenever we fight with each other, we come back to being a family, thanks to you dad for being a great example. I love you dad and I will miss you! I know you will always be by my side whenever I need you. I will see you again and grandma. God please take good care of them.
