Monika Harris Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 1, 2025.
Monika Ann Harris, 51, passed away suddenly on May 10, 2025, in Pleasanton, California. Born on August 13, 1973, in Berkeley, California, Monika lived a life marked by compassion, creativity, and an unwavering devotion to the well-being of animals.

From an early age, Monika's deep love for animals shaped her path. She became a licensed veterinary technician, dedicating herself to the care and comfort of countless pets at Dublin Veterinary Clinic. Her journey in healthcare continued as she pursued further education in phlebotomy, where she honed her skills with precision and empathy. Yet it was through her entrepreneurial venture-Furry Friends Pet Sitting Services-that Monika truly found her calling. Since founding the business in 1999, she built a thriving enterprise that earned widespread admiration and loyalty from clients throughout the community. Her reputation for treating every animal as if it were her own garnered numerous five-star reviews and a devoted customer base.

Monika's legacy is one of love and dedication-not only to animals but also to the people whose lives she touched through her work. Her tireless commitment brought peace of mind to pet owners and joy to their beloved companions.

She is lovingly remembered by her mother, Heidi E. Hinshaw of Rogers, Arkansas; brother, Michael Paul Harris of Bentonville, Arkansas; aunt, Constanze Esayian of Pleasanton, California; nephew, Jesse Harris (U.S. Army) stationed at Fort Stewart, Georgia; niece, Gabrielle Harris of Lathrop, California, as well as great nieces and nephews.

Monika was preceded in death by her father, John Lee Harris Jr. (1934-1983), her stepfather, Richard D. Hinshaw (1945-2020), and her Paternal Aunt, Lenora Harris Wight (1939-2002).

Those who knew Monika often described her as an old soul with a heart rooted in the ideals of peace and love that defined the 1960s. She held a deep appreciation for the music and culture of that era-finding solace and inspiration in its messages of unity and harmony. Her vibrant personality reflected these values: warm-hearted, and free-spirited.

As we remember Monika Ann Harris, we celebrate not only the joy she brought into our lives but also the strength with which she faced life's challenges. She was more than any hardship-she was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, and friend whose presence left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege to know her.

May Monika's memory bring comfort to those who mourn her passing and serve as a lasting reminder of the beauty she brought into this world through every act of kindness and care.
