Monroe Alvin Coogler, Jr., died in his home on July 15, 2022 at 83 years young. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Martha Jo Coogler; his daughter Kindy and her husband Raymond Hensler of Nashville, TN; his daughter, Ginny and her husband Chris Clougherty of Frisco, TX; and four grandchildren: Carson and Harper Hensler, Greyson and Declan Clougherty. He is survived also by his sister, Judy Parker (Kenneth Parker) and brother John B. Coogler (Marilyn Coogler); nieces and nephews, Chy Holman (Nick), Jason Coogler (Denise), Stephanie Blair (Ken), Ryan Coogler (Amy) and several grand nieces and nephews in Virginia, California and Tennessee.

Affectionally known as "AL", Mr. Coogler had a long life of love, laughter and service to his family, friends, community and country. Born January 15, 1939, in Brooksville, Florida, son of the late Monroe A. Coogler, Sr and Rosalie L. Coogler, his families Florida roots predate the civil war. He attended the University of Florida, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and, most importantly, met his wife, Marty. He enlisted and served in the United States Air Force from 1963 - 1967 having earned the Bronze Star and Commendation Medal of service. Following his military service, graduated with honors from Florida State University College of Law in 1969 then moved to West Palm Beach, Florida to start his practice and raise a family..

Al Coogler was very active in every community in which he lived throughout his life. He was a founding member of the Adams, Coogler law firm in West Palm Beach. He served four years on the Federal Judicial Nominating Commission under President George Bush; as President of the West Palm Beach Rotary Club; President of the Forum Club; Chairman of the Economic Council of Palm Beach County and Chairman of the Palm Beach County Criminal Justice Commission. After retirement, he moved to Lecanto, FL in 1996, to be closer to his Florida roots and continued his life of service being nominated to the Board of Southwest Florida Water Management District and Co-Founding the Black Diamond Foundation which recently celebrated its 20th year of supporting Citrus County charities.

Al was also an avid sailor, loved dancing with his wife, building furniture for his kids and enjoyed golf until he didn't. Most importantly, he loved being with his family and friends recounting all the adventures they had together. Those are the memories that will be cherished.

Private military graveside services have been arranged at the historic Brooksville cemetery by Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home, Inverness, FL. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for August 4, 2022 at the Black Diamond Ranch Clubhouse in Lecanto, FL from 12pm-3:30pm.

Mr. Bill Coyle

July 29, 2022

I had the privilege of working with Al on his home exercise rehabilitation program. I enjoyed our time together because he would not only work hard on his exercises, he would provide "entertainment" with his stories. I enjoyed it when his stories made him laugh hard. I just wish I knew him when he was in his prime...he must have been something.

My deepest condolences to all of his family members, especially Marty.
