Mont Murry

Mont Glenn Murry, a kind-hearted, soft-spoken man, said his final goodbye at the age of 76 surrounded by his family. He is survived by his loving wife Mary, their children Michael Murry, Margaret Murry, and Matthew Murry (Amber Murry), four grandchildren-Molly, Laila, Callum, and Eloise-and his sister Judy (Rogers).

Mont was born and raised in Mount Vernon, Illinois, the son of Saxon and Owen Murry. A deep regard for family, hard work, and community was shaped by his small town beginnings. Mary, his beloved wife, grew up in nearby Salem. They met during their college years. Mary, the girl next door, quickly became the love of Mont's life. Married for 52 years, together they built a storybook life of love, companionship and cherished memories.

Mont had a distinguished career as an engineer, most notably with Saudi ARAMCO Oil Company, where he worked from 1978 until his retirement in 2002. To many co-workers Mont was seen as a real-life "Jimmy Stewart". His professional journey took him and his family many places. Mary and Mont were inseparable in their adventures, sharing countless experiences as they explored the world together. Along the way, they raised their children with love and devotion, providing them with limitless opportunities to grow, learn, and experience the world for themselves. He found comfort in the roots he planted in both Indianapolis and Tucson after retiring.

Mont's mindful generosity was well-known. He was quick to help neighbors, friends, and even strangers in need. His quiet kindness and willingness to help others were hallmarks of the man he was.

Above all, Mont's life was his family-his greatest joy and his most treasured legacy. He loved his children and grandchildren deeply and found joy in the simple moments spent with them. He also had a special bond with his dogs, who were never far from his side. Known for his quiet strength, Mont's life was a reflection of his deep care for those he loved, his unwavering loyalty, and his generosity of spirit.

A Celebration of Life for Mont will be held at St. Christopher Parish (5301 W. 16th St., Speedway, IN 46224) on March 27 at 10:30 AM.
