Morgan DURIS obituary

In memory of

Morgan DURIS

Add memories that will last forever

Not sure what to say?

February 23, 2010

I didn't know Morgan, and I don't know your family. However, I was deeply saddened by your tragic loss. May you find strength and solace in her memory.

I am not particularly religious, but I have prayed for her and your family.

February 12, 2010

Dear Duris family.
I am so sorry about your lost. I am a junior at Northview high school. I did not know your daughter but my younger sister was friends with her. Its unreal that a love one can be taken from us so unexpectedly. Your family will always be in my thoughts and prayers.

Vickie, Tony, and Josh;
I was shocked and greatly saddened to hear the news about Morgan. She was about 4 years old last I saw her - a bubbly, active little girl. I'm sure she was the light of your lives. I hope that the love of family and friends lifts you up as you cope with her loss. God bless all of you.

Dear Duris Family,

We can not begin to imagine the pain you must be going through. Your family has been on our minds from the moment we heard the horrible news. Our son is a freashman at Northview High School and Morgan was very special to him. We seen her at some of his hockey games and are sorry we never had the pleasure of being introduced to her. Your family will remain in our thoughts and prayers for many days to come. The Sudlow Family

You don't know us, but we are members of Memorial Lutheran Church where, as we write this, they are preparing for her Memorial Service today. We know Morgan was very good friends with Sydney Hoffman from our church and our 5 year old daughter Mia really likes Sydney. We have a picture, which we were told is on display today, ofMorgan, Sydney and Mia in June 2005 at our church. We do remember when we took that photo and remember Morgan being a very pleasant young girl. We can't even begin to imagine what you are going through and just wanted to let you know that you are in our prayers. In fact, when we put Mia to bed last night she insisted we say an additional prayer for her and she asked, "Is Morgan's mom and dad sad?". Of course our answer was "yes" but we reassured her that our prayer would definitely help them. Wish we could do more to help you in your time of need. You will continue to be in our prayers.

I wanted to express how sorry I was to hear about your daughter's accident. I never met her but I met both of you at a party at your house over the holidays a few years ago when I was in town and again at Venturas. You guys are great so I'm certain your daughter was too. I can't really imagine what you are going through- it's too difficult. I want to you know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Hope to see you again when I am back in Toledo.

Your family is in our thoughts and prayers!

January 27, 2010

Dear Tony and Family,
I am so sad over your loss of Morgan. When in Heaven we can ask why? I wish we could all be with her, where there is no more death, no more sorrow, no more crying, no more pain. Rev 21:4. I pray that Jesus works many wonders in your lives.

January 27, 2010

Dear Duris Family,
We lost a son to suicide when he was only 17. It's a different situation but the end result is the same. This first year will definitely be the hardest. Please ask friends for help with whatever you need. Often they don't know what to do or say. The indescribable pain in your heart will eventually fade but will never completely be gone. Talk about your beautiful daughter and look at pictures often. This will keep her memory alive in your hearts.
A support group really helped our family. It helps to talk to parents who have been through similar tragedies.
Don't pay any attention to those who say "You should be over it by now". Everyone grieves differently and there is not a timeline when you should be "over it".
I just wanted to let you know how much your family has been in my thoughts and prayers.

Our hearts are heavy. We are enlightened by the great memories we still have of Morgan showing us the pictures she drew on the porch or the sidewalk chalk pictures she and Chuckie were so proud of as little kids. We know she is in a place where we will all meet up again and be able to enjoy all the fun times we had. Today, and from this day forth, we will see someone smile and Morgan will be in our hearts forever.
...and until we meet again, May God hold her in the palm of his hand.

Duris Family our condolences go out to the loss of your daughter. We know how your feeling. We loss our 17 year old son in August from a car accident. We would like to share a poem that someone shared with us.

Please Don't Tell Me
Please don’t tell me you know how I feel,
Unless you have lost your child too.
Please don’t tell me my broken heart will heal,
Because that is just not true.
Please don’t tell me my daughter is in a better place,
Thought it is true, I want her here with me.
Don’t tell me someday I’ll hear her voice, see her face,
Beyond today I cannot see.
Don’t tell me it is time to move on,
Because I cannot,
Don’t tell me to face the fact she is gone,
Because denial is something I can’t stop.
Don’t tell me to be thankful for the time I had,
Because I wanted more.
Don’t tell me when I am my old self you will be glad,
I’ll never be as I was before.
What you can tell me is you will be here for me,
That you will listen when I talk of my child,
You can share with me my precious memories,
You can even cry with me for a while,
And please don’t hesitate to say her name,
Because it is something I long to hear everyday,
Friend please realize that I can never be the same,
But if you stand by me, you may like the new person
I become someday.

Our deepest sympathy to Morgan's family, friends, and the entire community that surrounded her. It seems she has touched so many in her too brief time here on Earth and accomplished more than some can even dream of doing. This beautiful young lady will live forever in the memory and hearts of those she hasn't yet met. She will be with you always and forever in everyway and everywhere. We are so saddend by your loss and yet we are pleased that our granddaughter, Brianna Coulter, had the opportunity to have Morgan as her friend,to have known such a truly delightful person, and to have the wonderful memories of the times they shared which, we pray, will help heal her aching heart. Thank you for having shared Morgan.

Morgan will be in our hearts always.
Love and Peace,

Tony, Vicki, Josh, and all those who know and love Morgan...Loss can come upon you suddenly and overwhelm you with grief. Giving yourself time and space to heal, and being real with the Lord about your pain can help. Consider these sure words of comfort from Scripture and pray the prayer below asking the Father to give you new hope and strength to go on..."The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those who are crushed in spirit." Psalm 34:18..."The unfailing love of the LORD never ends! By his mercies we have been kept from complete destruction. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each day. I say to myself, 'The LORD is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!' The LORD is wonderfully good to those who wait for him and seek him. So it is good to wait quietly for salvation from the LORD. For the Lord does not abandon anyone forever. Though he brings grief, he also shows compassion according to the greatness of his unfailing love." Lamentations 3:22-26; 31-32...Dear Lord, Please help me in this time of loss and overwhelming grief. I don't understand why my life is filled with this pain and heartache. But I turn my eyes to you as I seek to find the strength to trust in your faithfulness. I will wait on you and not despair; I will quietly wait for your salvation. My heart is crushed, but I know that you will not abandon me forever. Please show me your compassion, Lord. Help me through the pain so that I will hope in you again. I believe this promise in your Word to send me fresh mercy each day. Though I can't see past today, I trust your great love will never fail me. Amen
