I miss your eyes, they conveyed everything .
I miss you hands, they gave so much comfort.
I miss your voice, that served as my compass.I miss your essence, that had so much enthusiasm for life. I miss your strength, that fueled mine. I miss your brain, that taught me to be inquisitive and keep learning. I miss your heart, that had the capacity for so much love.

I miss you my Daddy, always.

To Lisa and Michelle
Your dad;
With your Mom he showed me the importance of deep and endless love.
With you he showed me caring, loving, kind and fun Fatherhood.
With me he showed me honest and genuine friendship.
I regret so much and I m saddened and I m so sorry to miss his late years and not being next to you guys.
To Mike,
Your absence hurts and you are being missed a lot by your angels every day and specially when there is something to celebrate and you are not there.
Last ward had to be said on behalf of everyone you generously gathered around your table on those occasions, receptions and parties you enjoyed and loved to have.
Skal Mike forever...

Generosity, humanity, humor, kindness, love of family and friends is what I most remember about Mike (or Mr. Halpern as I first knew him back in 1978). My 1 1/2 years as au pair in Plandome Mills was a time I will never forget. Connecting again here in NYC with you, Lisa and Michele, is incredible and seeing so many of Neel and Mike's wonderful traits of humanity reflected in you gives me such pleasure.
It was an honor to have known Mike and I know how dearly he is missed by all who knew him.

Dear Mike, we only met few times, but you opened your home to us, shared your warm heart, your wisdom and live stories with us and made us feel part of your family. We all have a great memory of the wonderful days we spend with you, your family and friends over Christmas in Sarasota - 1000 thanks. R.I.P. The family from Spain

Cool Dad Halpern... You and your wife were magic to me in college. You were the most elegant, fun, international and thoughtful parents! I will never forget either of you. I love your daughters to the moon and back so they are stuck w their crazy San Francisco friend Adrienne. As you taught me to say "skal" you will be profoundly missed by your daughters and many... How wonderful to have lived a life where your daughters were most proud of their father. You define the meaning of family and are a role model to all of us. My condolences. Love and kind thoughts to your family.

On one of my many private conversations with Mike, I once asked him a question: Mike, I have such a hard time getting rid of .do you have the same ? His answer to me that rainy gloomy day, still lingers in my head more often than not. Each time when I am reminded of his answer, I can hear his voice. It makes me take action. His answer? To my astonishment he answered: Nope! Because it has had it's time. Thank you, Mike. You were always very special to me.
We love you, Lisa, Peter, Tiffany and Michael

Dear Lisa and Michelle,
Having been a friend of Mike for over 43 years, I miss him dearly and he will always remain in my heart.
His kindness and empathy touched us all. There are so many warm experiences I recall with the Halpern family.
One that is prominent in my mind is when your dad and his dad had dinner at our house. The names, memories, and historical events that flew the evening were astounding. Most of all, I took away from both their human kindness to their fellow man.
Another time that is special to the Viklunds were the Christmas celebrations at 107 Gristmill. It was like being in a fairy land.
You girls were certainly fairy princesses.
Your mom and dad's 25th anniversary celebration in Denmark could not be topped. What a privilege it was to be part of it.
Mike will be remembered with affection always!

We met in the Danish Seamen's Church in Brooklyn Heights 30 years ago. Mike was a genuine modest man. yet when Mike came into a room filled with people they would notice him whether they knew him or not. He came over to me and introduced himself with such a grace that people who did not know him might have presumed that it was an honor for him to meet me rather than the other way round. Over the years we got to know each other. We shared many interests. He was a fountain of knowledge and a very wise man. Later in life many a time a phone call from one to the other turned into lengthy conversations. you always learned something new, when you spoke with Mike. Mike enjoyed meeting new people. He was very loyal to his friends and his hospitality was legendary. Mike was a true Mensch. We will miss him as we are missing Neel. Whenever we think about them, it will be with a smile.

Aeret vaere hans minde!

Dearest Mike,

"The sunrays of life shall reach out to nature and create the blossoms of happiness" - Mike, you were the sunrays of life.

So many wonderful times and special moments with you - it was always "let's go" - we all admired your stamina, your kindness and your "joyeux de vivre".

You walked me down the aisle to marry the man, you helped me decide was the right husband for me. For this I am forever grateful to you, and to your beautiful daughters, Lisa and Michelle.

You came into my life at a time when I needed it most, and true to form, we met at a party in New York City. You remained in my life until the very end - and you will remain in my heart forever.

RIP you wonderful friend.

Tak for ALT kære Mike. Du vil altid have en plads i vore hjerter.❤❤

So many memories over these past 43 years. Wonderful parties at 107. Dancing around the Christmas tree. Mike carving the Duck. How do you part with something so profound in the foundation that you rest upon, as a person you always have seen as your second dad.
The dad that had been there on the side ever since you can remember, but who really kicked in when your own dad was lost and not here anymore. The quiet voice of reason, the convincing voice of intellect, the calm voice of logic in chaotic moments, and all of it carried out by the sweet but firm voice of love.

To me, you were all those things, Mike. And all though I have tried to thank you for it through the years, I don't really think you realized how much of an impact you have made both on my life and in my life, and just how grateful and humble I am. How lucky I feel.

Presenting me with so many other views on different subjects, telling me when I could do better that you was expecting me to use my brain, and not just float along, giving my behind a soft kick when I was slacking. Always ready with relevant and respectful advice.

The wonderful times spend with you, stories told, discussions, deep conversations, matter of life, death and all in between, and always in honesty even when it could hurt. For that I truly honor and respect you.
Words of wisdom, oh so many of them. Stored in my heart forever.

Hundreds of moments of laughter, hours of partying, smiling, dancing, talking, happy people everywhere, and the best of it the being together having a wonderful time, and the presence of warmth and hygge, always.

Bottom line is, that apart from teaching us kids that picking up thousands of cones in a garden full of pines, or wash the cars would give either money or icecream, you taught me that life is something we all have to catch and live the best we can, throwing in kindness, ambition, hard work and joy. Never just letting it pass by, and always keep good people close, and that love and patience is well spend on all souls.

I could go on and on. Farewells was never my strong side, you see. So in honor of you as my Daddy Cool, my friend, my by-heart-sisters father and a huge Mensch, I would like to thank you for being in my life. Its been such a privilege, and you will forever be in my heart, and your reasoning voice will always be in my thoughts as a beloved and cherished echo. Always with love
Charlotte

A man of many words and wonderful stories! I am so grateful to you for telling us all about our family and the crazy things they were up to; bringing loved ones back to life with your memories. You had a gift for remembering to appreciate and enjoy the good things in life and celebrating your love for friends and family. I will never forget us sitting around a dinner table on a cozy summer night laughing with you and reminiscing about the "good old times". Dear Uncle Mike, your stories will be missed greatly at all the beautiful Danish summer nights to come but I know you will be there with us forever.

He was Mike to me - and Mr Halpern when I was in trouble. He taught me about cars, America, making a buck and why I should iron my shirts for work. He always had time, patience amd advice (even when you didnt really want). Great father to his girls and a role model in many ways... Late in life you learn, that that is rare.

I have so many party memories with Mr. Halpern, whether in NY, Sarasota, or Droningmolle! He will be so greatly missed. Yet one of my fondest memories was talking to him in the car to the airport, just me and your Dad. Your Dad said that both of you wore your hearts on your sleeves, I remember thinking how true that was. I also remember how much he loved Denmark, his beloved's beloved country and his too of course. He showed me and your cousin around Copenhagen many moons ago. We must have talked about Georg Jensen during that tour because to this day whenever I pass a Georg Jensen store I think of your Dad.

Mike, you were the sunshine for many people, I would dare to say, the sunshine of life itself. You embraced all you met. You never forgot anyone. You rembered names, names of families, and you cared so much for all of them. You wanted to make a difference, for the better, for everyone you met through your life, and you did make a dirrence. I am thankful and privileged, that you passed my way long time ago, and I will keep you in my heart forever.

Unfortunately our beloved father passed away Tuesday, September 20 th at 10:30 AM. Our hearts are breaking but we are happy that he is at peace and reunited with the love of his life.We had a memorial in Sarasota September 23rd, 2016 in the banquet room in his apartment building. In the next few months we plan on holding a celebration of his life in Denmark. Our Dad embraced life and all of its beauty. He showed us by example what love and strength are all about. Our world will never be the same but we feel so fortunate that we had the honor of being his children.
