I met Morton when I was a fresh, truama intern in Philadelphia and his wife Bernice was in a horrific car crash. Being the lowest person on the totem pole at the time, it was my responsibility to spend that time with Bernice taking her around the hospital for all of her tests and therapies, most of the time Morton accompany us and was part of the team taking care of Bernice. Morton told me stories of his time in Britain during World War II, flying mosquitoes for the RAF to determine the weather forecast the bombers would need. He was absolutely one of the most fascinating man I had ever met and I looked forward every day to hearing his stories. The day finally came when Bernice was discharged from the hospital and soon after I receive a phone call with a personal invitation to join Morton and Bernice for dinner. Long story short they both adopted me as they would their own grandchild and made my life so much richer. When I first heard of Morton“s passing, I made it a point to honor his memory by learning to fly, and as he would say to slip the surly bonds of earth and touch the face of God. It has been years since my last contact with him, but I miss him terribly and the hole in my heart that he left behind will never fully heal.

Morton was a giant among men. I feel privileged to have known him and to have been friends with him.
He will live on in our sweet memories.

Because of his presence, life at Waverly Heights was much enriched. His wisdom and wit, his kindness and gentleness, will be sorely missed.
