FLORENCE —
Mr. Moses Lowery, died Friday, January 6, 2006, after an illness. Funeral services will be conducted 12 pm on Tuesday at Monumental Missionary Baptist Church with the Reverend Vandroft Backus officiating. Burial will follow in The National Cemetery in Florence, S.C. directed by Backus Funeral Home.
Moses was the sixth of twelve children and was the son of the late Sylvester Lowery and Parnese Sutton Lowery, born in Florence County, on September 16, 1922. He was a member of Monumental Baptist Church in Florence, South Carolina where he was a faithful member until his illness. He was a plumber by trade and retired as a long distance truck driver. He served in the United States Army.
Those who shared the joys of life with him and survive to cherish his memory: His loving and devoted wife, Hattie Perry Lowery; one son, Ulysses W. Lowery, daughter-in-law Charlene G. Lowery, two grandchildren, Leonard R. Lowery (Debra), April C. Lowery, of Dundalk, MD; two great grandchildren, Maya C. Lowery and Carmen E. Lowery, two sisters, Edith L. Chestnut of Harrisburg, PA, Alberta L. Holley (Larry) of Harrisburg, PA and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends and family at his home, 30 York St., Quinby, S.C.
