What an awesome lady!! She help me in time of trouble when I was going through a divorce. I'll always remember words she said to me. She is sitting at the right hand of God. Praise God for her life.

I was so sorry to learn about Mrs. Swicegood's death. Her daughter Linda and I were classmates in Raleigh and again at ECU. Mrs. Swicegood was always so nice and friendly when I was in their home.

As a career Family and Consumer Sciences professional, I owe much to those who came before me. Myrle Swicegood is one of the pioneers of work in the area of family that paved the way for the work we do today. Her legacy is the many families that continue to benefit from her work. She will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with your family during this difficult time.

We are blessed to have known this lovely lady and friend since joining the First Baptist Church 14 years ago. Myrle became an instant source of inspiration for us, with her loving care and counselling when we needed to share a personal burden. Her depth of love for us and her concerns for our well being were always evident. Mere words cannot express our deepest gratitude for her life and Christian ministry to us. She will be greatly missed. May her family and friends experience the calming peace and enduring love of our gracious heavenly Father.

Dr. Myrle was a treasure to many, including myself. I was privileged to have her as a role model during my 4-H career. She was one of the chaperones that accompanied myself and others to National 4-H Congress in Chicago during the 70's. Dr. Myrle was the most wonderful example of a true southern lady. Always gracious, gentle and caring. Her soft spoken words of wisdom were always a comfort and inspiration! I am honored that she always referred to me as "one of her girls." Her passing leaves a huge void in my life as I am sure it does to all that knew and loved her.

Smiling today as I look through all the pictures of Myrle with her children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Look at those sparkly eyes Mryle left behind on all those sweet faces. Can any of us ever forget her? Thank you Myrle for sharing your grace and love with us all.

I had the honor of meeting and learning from precious Dr. Myrle during a women's conference over 20 yrs ago in Morehead City. Her kindness, love and gentle spirit touched my broken heart and showed me Jesus' love. When she came to visit Ms.B her neighbor and brought her a flower and to spend some time with her, I was overjoyed to see her again. She is such an encourager and a true Woman of Faith- a wonderful, upstanding, honorable lady. Thank you Lord for lending her to us and for giving her grace in all areas and to share with others. Please be with her family and friends and help us all remember what we learned about You through her life. ?

Oh what wonderful memories I hold close from my association with Myrle beginning with her interview for the position in SC so many years ago. What an inspiration! Her winning smile and loving disposition toward all set her apart as a very special lady. Her joy and love of life was so real. She was Mother to you her family, but she mothered countless others. I feel so blessed to have known and experienced Myrle's love. She will forever live with me. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time. May the memories of Myrle each of you hold dear in your hearts help ease the pain of loss in the days ahead.

Becky and Family~My family and I are so sorry for your loss. Even though I only had the pleasure of meeting her a couple times, when I did, she opened up her home and was so sweet to us. She greeted us like her own family. May God be with you during this difficult time, and you will definitely be in our prayers! Wendy Derrick and Family

There is no doubt that society is better because of Dr. Swicegood, she has walked the path only few travel and she has no doubt left her mark. Through the years I have been amazed to not only hear people speak of her as they do, but to have read a few things written by her or articles about her. I can say it was a privilege to meet The Swicegoods back in the mid 80's through their daughter and son in law Greg and Linda Williams. Even as a young adult I immediately recognized that there was something special about Dr. Swicegood and as the years rolled by it became evermore evident what it was. This is a life story that will not only linger forever, but this story has rubbed off on so many people that today, I can easily see her values in others. Those that came in contact with Dr. Swicegood will always be able to say that she indeed had an impact on their life. Great people like this will always be remembered and we should all strive to live each day as she did.

A more loving, caring person cannot be found. A legacy of which we all should aspire. A virtuous woman whose price is above that of rubies.

I'll never forget Mrs.Swicegood's kindness when she gave me a place to stay when I moved from the mountains to New Bern several years ago. She helped make what could have been a stressful time much smoother, and I'm still amazed she took in a stranger and made me feel so welcome. Heaven has gained a wonderful saint! To the family - you are all in my prayers as you go through this difficult time.
