Mike and Fran - I still have vivid memories of a vibrant Nancy with a great laugh and the many hours spent singing, laughing and drinking tea on Maitland Avenue.

Nance- i think of you and your little red car every time i go back and forth into town. I especially miss you when I walk into Perks. You are there spreading love, sipping a little on a mocha-with-no-whip. Glad you are free - so free - of "no flying days". But oh how I miss you! Lovexxxx00000

So hard to believe it has been One Year since our dear Nance has passed.
My only sister whom I loved dearly . . .
It had ALWAYS been her dream to go diving with me, especially to the Socorro Islands.
A 28 - 30 hour crossing, 275 miles off the coast of Cabo San Lucas.
Live aboard diving at its finest . . .
I, too, had always wished her health would one day grant her wish.
This was the next best thing I could do.
I carried some ashes, so close to me . . .
As we headed to Socorro, so you could see . . .
All the stories we shared,
Of what was below,
You can see for yourself,
And now, you KNOW!
Seeing what nature beholds with surprise;
It is a diver's privilege, to see with our eyes.
Floating with Mantas, the largest around . . .
Their grace and their beauty will always astound.
"How can you dive with sharks with no FEAR?"
With you by my side, now you "know" that you're here.
Hammerheads, white tips, silkies and more . . .
Dolphins and whale sharks, and all we adore.
I have left part of you here,
Where you'll rest in peace
Till next I come
When I'll feel you say . . .
Can we dive again Please??????
Until I return,
I love and miss you every day.
Your little sis,
Franny

Nance ... so beautiful in every way. Such an inspiring model of courage and loving/positive thinking to your (lucky) friends. You had a job here on earth which was to show all of us the way of the angels. Thank you.I will not forget you. Love to all of Nance's dear family and friends.

Our Beautiful 'Purple Chic' ...Nance had the most amazing attitude I have ever experienced! No matter how tuff things got she still managed to crack a joke and flash her wonderful smile. My favourite of her sayings was when someone asked her how she was doing, she'd reply... "Parts of me are Spectacular!!"...To me all of her was spectacular, especially that big loving heart of hers. You are amazing Nance and truly an inspiration for those of us who you. I think that now those beautiful 'Purple Wings' are taking you even higher!... Enjoy the flight sweet Nance!! Love&hugs....

Dear Precious Nance, .we called each other tittie, tattie tarts, and bfffff's, best friends forever and forever and forever. The tattie tart connection goes back 17 years ago, when we got our very first tattoos together,.. me one little heart, and you went on to get many awesome tattoos, ending with spectacular full back angel wings, which I imagine are coming in very handy now in elaborate full feather. So, now there are no more "No Fly Days" as you called your ever increasing bad days..and now you truly have, as one of your tattoos said, "Taken Flight".
You were an incredibly stylish, little purple-haired pistol, unique in every way. Kind and generous beyond anyone I have ever known, often a little crazy generous at times. You were always ready with a funny remark or saying, and loved to make us laugh with your goofy sayings and nicknames for us. You were so strong and independent (no clucking! you would say), kind, loving, funny, always concerned and interested about others. You were, and probably still are, a style icon, lover of animals, Mickey Mouse, an angel aficionado. Nance you were BRAVE, oh so brave as you fought and suffered your way through one illness after another, doctor after test after painful surgery. Such difficult health problems, and yet through it all, you remained a gentle, sweet, loving and tender friend.
I'm trying not to miss you Nance, and I'm doing my best to feel with a new awarenessyour presence around me in a different form. I really appreciate all the help you are giving me now. Thank you Nance for sharing your life on earth with me all these years, for all you taught me, for all the love and gifts you showered on me, for the laughs, the tears, thank you for sharing your enormous and beautiful heart. So, I end with the last words I spoke to you, while you were still on this earthly plane, my precious, precious friend..I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you.

Nance was a caring and generous friend. Despite her health challenges in the last few years, she made the most of every day, and loved to have fun. She loved animals and they loved her. I was blessed to know her. She will be greatly missed here in Nanoose Bay.

The best way that I can describe how wonderful a friend Nance was to me is to steal a quote from Shakespeare who said this of true friendship: "A friend is one that knows you as you are, understands where you have been, accepts what you have become, and still, gently allows you to grow." You are, and will always be, greatly missed, dear Nance.

So sorry to hear of Nan's passing. I remember the first day I met her, at the bus stop on Maitland Ave. I was dressed for & heading to the barn. Fran was too shy?! to come out & ask where I went riding.. so Nan came over to ask me. I knew right away that we would be friends.
I will always remember her big smile & laugh, beautiful soul & big open heart.

Dear Nance!
You welcomed me into your heart and your family back in 1985, and I will never forget the time I spent with you and Michael. You were such a warm person, and the best company - you were like a very young and always caring mother to me, when I was very far from home. And you had such funny bones, you could always make me laugh and forget the distance to Denmark. I wish we had kept in touch, I miss you!
Hugs, Helle

As brother Mike's close friend in high school and early university days in Ottawa I hung out a great deal at the Roach homestead. There were hours with Mike and Nance and Fran playing guitar and singing. Nance loved to sing and loved to laugh. There was always something going on and Nance seemed to be at the center of it. Whether it was her hanging out with her friends or trips up to Pickerel Bay I still remember her infectious laugh and how easy it was to be around her. She always made me feel welcome and had no difficulty teasing us all. Great memories. Rest in peace Nance.

I will miss you Aunt Nance...we didn't get much time together but you always cared about what was going on in my life and I truly appreciated that. I know that you are happy and at peace now. I am sure that Gammy is by your side along with all your furry friends. Let your light shine!

The year you coaxed me was" nineteen seventy seven",
"Come out west!" your begged
And see a piece of heaven
The mountains, the ocean, the trees so green
No bitter freezing weather, like you have never seen!"
I followed your promises, trusting you would keep,
And when i arrived I couldn't believe my eyes,
For everything you promised was right within my reach!
Moving out west was the best thing I ever did, and my life
would be forever changed.
Thanks to you sis.
We were destined to be close for the rest of our lives.
Our joys and sorrows and loving our animals was like the tears we often shed with of a loss of one.
A bond.
A sisterhood of our laughs and fun through life.
Just know that a part of you in my special design, will be
with me when I go diving from now on.
You will see the great manta rays, dolphins, whale sharks and hammerheads!
"Sisters, Sisters, Lord help the Misters who come between
me and my sister"......our song we sang.
Be at peace Sis.
I love you
franny

Nance . . .
God saw the road was getting rough
And the hills were hard to climb,
So he closed your weary eyelids
And whispered, "Peace be thine".
Rejoice with the angels and all of God's creatures . . .
