H. Frank Kipe, 86, of 10860 Gehr Road, Waynesboro, died at 1:15 a.m. Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at Quincy Home.
Born Sept. 23, 1927, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Omar H. and Catherine (Shank) Kipe.
Mr. Kipe graduated from Messiah Academy, Grantham, Pa., with the Class of 1945. He later graduated from Messiah Junior College in 1948 and Millersville University with a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Arts. He also did post-graduate work at the Fuller School of World Missions from 1978 to 1979.
He married his first wife, Blanche L. "Pat" (Landis) Kipe, in February 1952. Mrs. Kipe died on Jan. 9, 1990. He married his second wife, Lois A. (Book) Kipe, on May 18, 1991. He has lived at his current residence since returning to the Waynesboro area in 1978.
Mr. Kipe was a missionary in Africa from 1952 until 1978. During that time, he served as a teacher, builder, educational administrator and as Principal of the David Livingstone Teacher Training College. He also served as Bishop of the Brethren in Christ Church in Zambia from 1968 until 1978. Upon returning to the Waynesboro area, he served as a teacher at Messiah College and as a pastor. From 1984 until 1994 he served as the Bishop of the Allegheny Conference of the Brethren in Christ Church. He also enjoyed farming and operating his sharpening business.
He has been a member of Five Forks Brethren in Christ Church, Waynesboro, since 1934. Along with his work, he enjoyed making hay, riding his motorcycle, hunting, and visiting with people.
In addition to his second wife, he is survived by four children, Frank Kipe Jr. and his wife, Mary of Smithsburg, Md., Judy Kipe-Nolt and her husband, Barry of Bloomsburg, Pa., Ken Kipe and his wife, Barb of Chambersburg, and Ray Kipe and his wife, Darlyss of Waynesboro; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Janet Martin of Chambersburg and Lois Peckman of St. Thomas, Pa.; one brother, Howard Kipe of Waynesboro; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by one infant grandson, Colin Antony Kipe; one sister, Gladys Paulus; and two brothers, Keith Kipe and Alan Kipe.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, in the auditorium at Five Forks Brethren in Christ Church, 9244 Five Forks Road, Waynesboro. Burial will follow in Ringgold Cemetery, Ringgold, Md.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, at the Five Forks Brethren in Christ Church, and at 10 a.m. Friday morning, at the church prior to the services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Brethren in Christ World Missions, 431 Grantham Road, Mechanicsburg, Pa. 17055, or Five Forks Brethren in Christ Church, 9244 Five Forks Road, Waynesboro, Pa. 17268.

I am very sorry to hear of Mr Kipes passing. As I too lost my dad 1 month ago I understand what you are going through. I only just found out and am sorry I was unable to attend Wednesdays service for him. My thoughts and prayers are with your family at this time. Mr Kipe was a wonderful man and will be dearly missed but may his memories live on and become a pleasant comfort.
