Nancy Lane Herrin Cook, 74 years old, of Statesville passed away peacefully at home on March 16, 2018. Nancy was born on September 29, 1943 in the home she passed away in, to the late Ellis and Laura Lane McKee Herrin.

Nancy was a retired teacher assistant with the Iredell/Statesville School system, she taught Sunday school at Front Street Baptist Church as well as at Western Avenue Baptist Church. She loved to volunteer her time at Cary Christian School and Statesville Christian School and was a huge Star Wars fan.
She was predeceased by her 2 brothers, J.E. and Bill Herrin and her 2 sisters, Lela Mae Eudy and Mary Ella Matheson. She is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Wendell Cook; her daughter, Patricia M. Shaw and her husband Ken of Statesville; her son, Wendell "Dell" Cook, Jr. and his wife Ginny of Cary; her sister, Susan Herrin Levan and her husband Rodney of Statesville; her grandchildren, Katie, Lauren and Andrew Cook all of Cary as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday March 20, 2018 from 1-3pm at Western Avenue Baptist Church, 1206 Museum Rd, Statesville with a funeral service to follow at 3pm with Rev. Jeff Spry officiating. Burial will follow in Sandy Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, Harmony.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nancy's memory to the Western Avenue Church Missions Fund.
