Nancy Dent

Nancy (Milliman) Dent, 82, passed away June 10, 2014 at home. She was born April 2, 1932 in Springfield, Ill., to the late John and lone (Roscoe) Milliman. She was united in marriage to Duane Erwin Dent Oct. 24, 1953, and he preceded her in death Aug. 7, 2009.

Nancy attended Michigan State University and held a bachelors degree and teaching certificate from Central Michigan University. She held the position of Vice President at the family run business, Midland Iron Works, until retirement.

She enjoyed spending time with family and friends at their cottage on Higgins Lake and at the Higgins Lake Boat Club. She particularly enjoyed helping to run the sailing regattas and participating in club activities. After the kids were grown she loved to spend time with Duane, taking their dog for walks on the beach in Charlevoix. She was a member of Memorial Presbyterian Church.

Surviving her are her children, Stephen (Dixie) Dent, Stan (Sharon) Dent and Susan (Peter) Morley, all of Midland; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Prescott "Scotty" (Shirley) Milliman of Sanford, Judy (Bob) King of Tecumseh and Caroline (George) Williams of Oahu, Hawaii.

A private memorial service for family will be held at a later date. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the Midland County Animal Shelter or the Higgins Lake Swimming and Sailing Foundation.
