Nancy Lee Ferry

Continental Nancy Lee Fetter Ferry, 75, died at 6:45 a.m. July 15, 2012, at Community Health Center of Branch County, Coldwater, Mich. She was born Jan. 16, 1937, in Auglaize County to Paul Chiles and Freda C. Prichard Fetter, who preceded her in death. On June 24, 1978, she married Wilbur E. Ferry, who survives in Continental. They were married for 34 years. Mrs. Ferry was a member of New Life Beacon of Hope Church. Through the years, she served in children's and women's ministries at several churches. She had served as a special events organizer for her church and was active with Child Evangelism Fellowship, while living in Fort Wayne, Ind., in the 1970s. She loved music and participated in community choir events with her daughter Rhonda for several years. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and other crafts. She was a gifted baker and loved working jigsaw puzzles. As a young woman, she was a member of 4-H and other agricultural activities. She loved drag-racing. She was a graduate of Lafayette-Jackson High School and attended Fort Wayne Bible College, Fort Wayne, Ind. She attended Lima Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She was a licensed practical nurse having worked as a private duty nurse and as a floor nurse at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind. She retired from Springview Manor Nursing Home, where she had been a floor nurse and shift supervisor. Survivors also include two daughters, Rhonda (Derek) Warren, of Lima, and Lynn Ferry, of Continental; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Ferry, Julie Morvay and Jacen Warren; a great-grandchild, Addison Phillips; a sister, Paulette (Fred Jr.) Isch, of Lima; a niece, Jennifer (John) Slechter; a nephew, Fred C. Isch III; a great-niece and -nephew; and her former husband, Ronald L. Bowers, of Fort Wayne, Ind. She was preceded in death by two infant brothers, Freddy and Dennis; and a sister, Mary Alice Fetter. Services will begin at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Eastside Chapel. Pastor Jill Brecht will officiate. Burial will be in Ward Cemetery, Lima. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today and one hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home.
