Nancy H Kavanaugh Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jan. 24 to Jan. 25, 2023.
Nancy Helene Kavanaugh, 79, died peacefully on January 23, 2023, having been surrounded by family all weekend. She was born in Hartford to the late John L Kavanaugh & Helen (Driscoll) Kavanaugh. She attended Mount Saint Joseph Academy high school, going on to receive her RN at Saint Francis Hospital School of Nursing. She achieved her dream of higher education later in life, receiving her Bachelors of Science from Saint Joseph's College in Standish ME.

Nancy had a long and satisfying career, working first at St. Francis in labor & delivery, women's health & psychiatry. She also spent several years at Gaylord & Waterbury Hospitals, Connecticut National Bank (later Shawmut) & Human Resources at New Britain General Hospital before working for the Center for Infertility in New Britain & Hartford, a job she truly loved.

Nancy had lived in Hartford, West Hartford & Cheshire CT where she made friends easily & enjoyed many interests including bowling, skiing (both cross-country & downhill), travel, gourmet club, kayaking & most of all art. Despite her belief to the contrary, she was a gifted artist and those blessed with her paintings or drawings will cherish them forever.

But by far her most important home was the one she shared with her beloved husband, Don H Roy of Manchester CT and their Cavalier King Charles, Joey. Don was the love of her life, and the family is eternally grateful for the blessing he was in her life.

In addition to her husband, Nancy, an only child, leaves behind her greatest legacy - her children, Richard V Frankovits, Jr and his wife Martina of Little Falls NJ, Jody-Marie Frankovits of Manchester, and Jaime F Lee of New London CT; her grandchildren, Jessica Lee (Caleb Amaden) of Rogue River OR, Hannah Paxia (Chris) of Brick NJ, Max Frankovits of Bloomfield NJ, Jake Frankovits and Luke Frankovits both of Little Falls NJ; her great grandchildren, Nathan, Connor & Madelyn Paxia, Ella & soon-to-be-born baby girl Amaden; her step-sons and their families, Timothy H Roy, his wife Ver?nica and their children Alexandra, Olivia, Max & Luis, and Michael D Roy, his wife Lisa and their children Ethan, Anna & Julian. She also leaves a number of cousins, as well as several amazing & close friends, some she has had since childhood.

The family would like to thank the staff at Saint Francis & Hartford Hospitals for their care of Nancy in her final months, as well as the incredible team of Hartford Hospice, Athena Care & Integrity Care 360, all of whom played a huge part in allowing Nancy to comfortably remain at home with her family as her time drew near.

There will be no calling hours. Instead, a Celebration of Life will be held at a date to be arranged later by the family. In lieu of flowers, Nancy asked that memorial donations be made in her name to House of Bread (27 Chestnut Street, Hartford, CT 06120), Habitat for Humanity (c/o CT Nonprofit Center, 75 Charter Oak Avenue, Building 2, Suite 205, Hartford, CT 06106) or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105).

During our student days at St Francis, I remember Nancy to be an excellent nurse, always advocating for her patients. My most sincere condolences, may she Rest In Peace.

Dear Nancy,

You were a bright light in our family. Your beautiful smile warmed the room and our hearts. Kind, positive and caring, I admired your resilience and strength. You quietly demonstrated that serenity is possible with acceptance and love.

You and U Don were a formidable couple. I´m grateful for your example and will miss fun times together.

Thank you Nancy for sharing the gift of you. Your spirit will not be forgotten. I hope we meet again one day

Much love, Kathleen
