Nancy Hauffe Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jan. 2 to Jan. 11, 2024.
Nancy M. (Pobalis) Hauffe, age 76, passed away after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease at Meadowbrook Antrim County Medical Care Facility in Bellaire, MI on Sunday, December 31, 2023.

She was born on July 20, 1947, in Bay City, Michigan, the daughter of the late Stanley W. And Romaine (Pawlak) Pobalis.

Nancy graduated from Bay City Central High School in 1965, and went on to Northwood University where she obtained her two year business degree. She spent many successful years as a marketing / salesperson in Northern Michigan and the Tri-Cities. Nancy was an outgoing, friendly, person who always had a smile on her face as she greeted customers who in turn would quickly become friends.

Nancy is survived by her daughters, Heather Bordeaux (John) Richards, East Jordan, MI and Michelle (Jonathan Nesky) Bordeaux, Cedar, MI; grandchildren, Anna Richards, Emma Richards and Jasper Bordeaux Bottenhorn; her only sibling, sister, Maureen Pobalis, Petoskey, MI; and special former sister-in-law, Mary Beth (John) Bordeaux, Saginaw, MI. In addition, Nancy was also preceded in death by her first child, stillborn infant daughter, Baby Bordeaux in 1968 and her step-father, Glenn Porterfield.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the thoughtful and caring staff at Meadowbrook Antrim County Medical Care Facility who cared so lovingly for Nancy.

It was Nancy's desire for cremation to take place. For those who so desire, memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.

Private services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being provided by the Penzien Funeral Homes of East Jordan, MI.

My condolences to family. Nan and I met during a rough time in her life, she had just been let go from a job and was trying to find a new one. I was in the same boat. We met and provided friendship to each other and hung out for couple months. Come to find out she was from Bay City and I was from Saginaw in our younger years. I´m glad she was in my life. She was a sweet lady.

Nan, Maureen´s older sister, was a sweet, kind hearted person with a beautiful smile. I have fond memories staying at their big, red, barn house on Johnson Street in Bay City, MI. They always made me feel part of the family. Mo took care of her parents and her sister when they needed her the most. My deepest condolences to the twin sisters, Mo, my dear friend and the rest of the family and friends.

Nan and I had several classes together at Central High School. We also worked together on Crest, our student literary publication. She was always friendly, with a ready smile. She regularly participated in after school activities, especially dances after athletic events, where old fashioned `60s Rock n Roll was played. I have not seen Nan for many years, but have fond memories of our high school years. God Bless at this difficult time.

Maureen, Heather, Michelle and families. I am so sad to read of Nan´s passing. I know she has suffered for some time but it is still so sad. We had such good times in Saginaw, Charlevoix and East Jordan. Alzheimer´s can steal so much - but it can´t steal the wonderful memories you all have. My sincere condolences.

After Nan moved away from Saginaw, I didn´t get a chance to see her as often as I would have liked, though did come up to Charlevoix to visit when I could. We had such great times together, and she became a very cherished friend. I was devastated for her and for Maureen, Heather and Michelle when I heard of her diagnosis. Nan is now whole again and rejoicing in her new life in Heaven!

I´m keeping her family in my prayers.
Cherish the memories. Take all the time you need to grieve.
I´m sure she is up with all the angels and singing away with her mom!
