MISHAWAKA - Nancy Ann "Nan" (Witt) Kovach, 50, of Mishawaka, passed away Friday morning, May 4, 2012, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Nancy, known to many as "Nan," was born October 17, 1961, in Mishawaka. She was the youngest of seven children born to Robert and Sara (Schurz) Witt. Nan grew up in South Bend and was a 1980 graduate of Riley High School. She received her Bachelor's of Science in Business Degree from Indiana University in 1984. Nancy married Craig J. Nancy was employed as an administrative assistant for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local #153. She was a member of St. Matthew Cathedral Parish in South Bend where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. Nan was known for being a great cook, and loved entertaining and having pool parties. She also enjoyed traveling, swimming and photography. Nan volunteered for church and school activities, and was faithful about attending her son's athletic events. She dearly loved her dogs, Gabby and Zeke. Nancy's family was the center of her life and she was always thinking of others. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Nancy's surviving family includes her husband and best friend, Craig; her son, Drew; her mother, Sara Witt; six siblings, Lynne Barnaby, David (Mona) Witt, John (Teresa) Witt, Kathleen (Paul Romero) Witt, Rebecca (Robert) Martindale and Barbara (Brian) Levan; Craig's family including his parents, Stephen and Rosalie (Datena) Kovach; and his siblings, Nancy Villanueva, Mark (Jill) Kovach and Michaeleen (Jay) Conlee. She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews who called her "Aunt Nanny." Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 am in St. Matthew Cathedral, 1701 Miami Street, South Bend, with Rev. Jacob Runyon officiating. Unable are the loved to die. For love is immortality. ~ Emily Dickinson

With the amount of love Nancy received and gave she shall live forever.

Her sweet, kind ways and winning smile made Nancy greatly loved and she shall remain in our hearts forever. Every life she touched is better for it.

Rest in peace my dear friend. I'll forever cherish our friendship. You no longer need our prayers because you are now in Gods loving hands. I pray for your husband, son and family; that they garner the strength to make it thought these darkest hours.

Love you Nancy......
